Welcome to the official discussion thread for Pokemon Shuffle on the 3DS!

To start, please add this game to your log, add it to your collection (if applicable), and (when you are ready) rate it using the link above!

So, how are you liking this game? I think it's fun. I'm playing it in small doses. I'm on battle 42 of about 159 (for now). I already got the Mew from a special event, too. I haven't captured all the pokemon I have battled. I'm focusing on moving forward and then coming back to catch them all. I AM making exceptions for those pokemon I can actually Mega Evolve.

By the way, how does this game compare to Pokemon Trozei? I haven't played that one.

Thanks for the info!

Do you know how to trigger consecutive Streetpasses? Like, after one Streetpass, do I have to go into the Mii Plaza and talk to that Mii before I can Streetpass it again? Do I have to turn my system on and off before they can Streetpass again? Or does a certain amount of time have to pass before they Streetpass again?

@V_s

For the Pokemon Shuffle streetpassed you just have to go into the game and click the Pokedex icon, which will have a blue dot, to view your streetpasses. Do that every time you streetpass the same person, which can generally happen twice a day, and every time after the third straight time you'll get another heart. I 'm guessing you won't get multiple hearts if you neglect to check between multiple streetpasses (like you streetpass someone 5 times in a row without checking, you won't get 2 hearts off the bat).

For Streetpass Mii plaza games, you can streetpass someone up until 10 times before going to Mii Plaza to greet them, but they'll just high five you ten times and only will count as one person for the games like Find Mii.

Thanks again. That was all really helpful.

I'm surprised today's update wasn't a little more substantial, but Diancie is a pretty cool addition, and I like Sharpedo's effect.

However, I just checked serebii.net today for the first time in a while and noticed that apparently Zygarde is getting some new forms or something? I can't really tell if they're going to carry over into the games or if they're just for the show/movies, but they are some of the most ridiculous new forms I've ever seen. I can't imagine how they'd introduce them into the main games, much less Shuffle.

@V_s

No problem. Also, I found out that you only get a bonus for consecutive streetpasses up to 5 streetpasses in a row. You get one heart for the third consecutive Streetpass, one heart for the fourth consecutive Streetpass, and two hearts for the fifth consecutive Streetpass. And contrary to what I said above, you can in fact get them all at once. So if you were leave your 3DS next to someone else's with Pokemon Shuffle, after about two and a half days you would get 4 hearts when you check the game. Not bad. I'm starting to stockpile a decent amount of hearts since I downloaded the game for my wife (and played through the tutorial for her so that I could get to the point where I could clear out her streetpasses when she was full).

Haven't tried Sharpedo's effect yet. I'll have to give that a go.

Whoa. Unexpected huge update- Registeel, Mew, Mega Charizard comp and new stages.

This may take a bit...
09/18/15, 10:43
Yeah, I was surprised at how much we got (and on a Friday, no less), AND they brought Mew back! (Don't forget to play Mew even if you've already caught him so you can get 200 coins and a free Jewel.)

Registeel gave me some difficulties, but since I was almost maxed out on coins anyway, I used a few items and caught him. I probably should have gone ahead and done a full-item run for Charizard, but I just went itemless for my first run which got me a good enough score that I'd have a Mega Speedup if the contest ended right now, but I'm sure that score will slip as the week goes on.

I can already tell that the new Main Stages are going to be a pain.

I've been playing this on my phone. Mega Mawlie (stage 90) is giving me fits.

@V_s

I took a few shots at Registeel and came fairly close every time, but not close enough. Finally dropped 3K coins on an an Attack up and beat him with 8 turns left & a 25% catch rate. Lucky me I caught it on the first try, no Great Ball.

Beat the first few new levels easily enough (got a 1st attempt S-Rank on Kirlia!), but Staravia is an asshole. That took a Mega Start and +5.

@Shadowlink

Congrats on the Kirlia! It actually took me three attempts to beat her itemless, and even then I only had one move remaining.

I'm currently stuck on Staraptor. I'll have to use some items on it when I get some more lives.

@V_s

It's certainly not something I've been able to replicate!

I'm trying to catch the thing now and I'm using the same team as before, and I'm actually beating the stage only one in every three times. I must have had an amazing combo run on the S-rank.

+5 will do it easy though if you need to.

Gothitelle was another pain in the ass for me, I spend a bundle on items, and could never crack it. But I think I had the wrong team. I switched up, hit it with a Disruption Delay and S-ranked it. Bah.
09/20/15, 06:07
I'm up to Medicham and haven't had to use any items yet. Haven't S-ranked anyone either though and have only caught a couple.
09/20/15, 06:49
Accidentally used a Jewel when I didn't realize my turns were over, went to click a Pokemon near the middle of the screen and hit the "Yes" Button as soon as it popped up asking if I wanted to used a Jewel. Bah. And I still couldn't even beat the level (not that it mattered, I was just going for an S Rank).
09/20/15, 16:36
@Jargon

I've done that. And I was just grinding at the time. It was annoying.

Just S-ranked Mr Mime no items. Pro Tip- Bring Absol along. Mind Zap works nicely here, negating the ever annoying disruptions, whilst Gengar, Genesect and Giratina wreak havoc.

Has anyone checked out the rankings on the Mega Charizard Y competition lately? All of the top 5 contestants are using Ditto and/or Palkia, i.e., Pokemon that aren't in the game yet. (Ditto's not even in the Pokedex yet!) Hope Nintendo takes care of them before the contest ends. It would be one thing if they had maxed out the score with all 9s. That would be an obvious hack. The Ditto and Palkia are only going to be obvious to the people who play the game regularly or who programmed the game, and I don't know if those are the same people who monitor the contests.

@V_s

Seriously?! No I hadn't noticed that. All I saw was a bunch of Arceus Double Normal teams. Different regions I guess? I hope?!

Damn hackers.

@V_s

Weird. Oh well, I'm still in the top 1000

I've been playing this on my phone. Having fun. I have captured all of the Pokemon up to and including Cubone, but what I can't figure out is a few of the pokemon have a space for a mega-evolve stone, but it's empty. Do I have to buy them now? The first 4 or so were given to me when I caught them.
09/24/15, 03:30
@cooliocuneo

Assuming the mobile version is the same as the 3DS version, the Megastones are given to you seperately. Catching the Pokemon that the stone effects is an entirely different activity. I think what you're finding is that you're catching the Pokemon in question on an earlier stage, and then doing the special 'Mega Pokemon' stage. These are stages where you just need to beat the Mega, you don't need to catch anything. The stone is awarded when you beat the stage.

Generally speaking you will face the Mega Stage of a given Pokemon after encountering it earlier in the main game. Some exceptions will be Pokemon like Mega Mewtwo (Stage 150.) You can get the stone here, but without unlocking and catching Mewtwo in the expert stages, it won't do you any good.

Also keep in mind that there's only a dozen or so Mega Stages so far, but a *lot* more Pokemon that have Megastone slots. The bulk of those are being trickled out as competition prizes.

Regice is a real pain in the patoot as the kids say.

Wait the kids don't say that?!

Edit: Finally managed to beat him itemless with a fire team, Blaziken, Heatran, Emboar, and Delphox. Emboar is nice for breaking away some of the ice and Delphox I guess increases damage for any combos (although who can really tell). If you get lucky Blaziken can really do some damage.

Still didn't catch him though. Only had a 28% chance with Great Ball and figured I'd have some more opportunities. If I still haven't caught him near the end of his time, an Attack Power up should help get a far better percentage.

I only ever got close to beating Regice itemless with Mawile as my Mega. Eventually dropped some money on some items to catch him.
