@NinTemple_Maxi

It's unlikely that I'll be able to participate tomorrow.

I should be good to go. Like usual, I may be running a bit late, but I'll be there.

Good hunts everyone. We at times were on it while other times I has being shot away at by crag shot blasts and pellet shots when I was attacking the head with the hammer.

This is a good video on online etiquette. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YypVLzFhHy4

Hey, the Crag Shot was there first!

Yeah, it was fun. Although I hate Brute Tigrex so much...

I need a good non-Grenade Launcher gun. And a good Gunlance.

Good times, last night. Sorry I was so late (and then had to leave early) - pretty much any other night I'd be good, but last night was just chaos. I don't know what was up with my kids, lol. It's like they know daddy is trying to get something done, so they have to cause a ruckus.

Anyway, I'm going to try and unlock that "Forge Decoration" feature (or whatever it's called) this week. Wish me luck!

Good luck!

You want a good Light bow gun to start? The Khezu Syringe is great. It rapid fires Thunder shots. Has 3 of Ice and water shots, It fires 6 normal 2 and 3. and has a healthy about of Recovery shots and status.

My game plan is to shoot anything that moves. Seems to work.

Well, I had a rough morning today. Got PWNED by a Nerscylla during my first "Urgent Quest" from the Guild.

Maybe I'm not equipped well enough to take this spider-beast down.
05/13/15, 18:11
Yeah that monster can be rough to hunt first few times around.

Few tips. Antidotes are a must. Cleansers and energy drinks help too.

Cleansers help get the webs off of you; you can also rotate the stick and mash A or X to break free before it drags you in. Energy drinks wake you up before you fall asleep if their stinger gets ya. I went with the charge blade since it has a shield and has great attacks. Just stay away from its mouth and attack the legs and if your weapon bounces on the monster go to a different area and attack.

Oh yeah, I went through so many Antidotes during that fight, LOL! That thing poisoned me over and over!

I did find that attacking the legs worked the best. Though at one point I was able to do a flying leap-slash from a higher platform and knocked it on its back. That did some really good damage it seemed, ha ha.

Frustratingly enough, I think I may have almost had it. I saw it start limping away, so I chased after it into the next area (stopping quickly to use a whetstone) but when I caught up with it almost immediately after, the thing was acting like it was at 100% health again.

It made short work of me after that.

One other thing that you can do that saves on potions is to head to basecamp and use the bed there. It will heal all of your health and any statuses you might have.

Also once it is limping it should be capturable unless it rests and wakes up. One fun thing with the SnS is that you can mount monsters either by above or below. Those ledges can be mounted from below or above.

Success! I am officially HR2 now! w00t! ...though, in the interest of full disclosure...I didn't do it by myself. Had a buddy help me through it.

But hey! A completed quest is a completed quest! I even mounted that stupid thing so many times, I broke off the horn. Which completed the sub-quest as well. BONUS.

Feelin' pretty good about this. Was kind of depressed earlier today when I was getting curb-stomped, lol.

Good job grant. Try to work on offline now.
05/13/15, 22:19
Wait, were you trying to complete a multiplayer quest by yourself?! Now that's gutsy!
05/13/15, 22:29
@NinTemple_Maxi

I thought I was!

@Mop it up

I didn't know it was a multiplayer quest!
05/13/15, 23:00
@GameDadGrant Ha ha, I'm impressed then! It sounds like you fared pretty well against it, all things considered.

The setup in this game is pretty weird and confusing. The quests in the Gathering Hall are intended for multiplayer, though you can still play them while offline by yourself. The guild lady in the town hands out the quests for single player, I think they are called "Caravan Quests" or something like that. The quests in the Gathering Hall feature quests that are intended for 4 players, and so the monsters found there have much more HP (3-4x as much) and are stronger than the ones found in single player quests. These quests do not scale down however, so the monsters still have the same HP and strength even with 3, 2, or 1 player(s). That's why they're so tough when you're by yourself.
05/13/15, 23:13
@Mop it up

Oh, gotcha. Hmm. The so-called "Guild Marm" stopped giving me new quests...is there something I need to do to unlock the next set?
05/13/15, 23:26
@GameDadGrant Yeah, there are various things that give out quests. If you already have check marks on all the quests available (except the weapons training quests, those don't unlock anything), then trying looking around town. People with a yellow speech bubble over them have something important to say. I think there are also points where you have to go on expeditions to unlock things, and these are accessed from the touch screen map.
