Are you going to display your Amiibos or are you going to keep them hidden when not in use? I'd like to display them, I just need space to put them.

@VofEscaflowne

Haha. I was only being a smidgeon facetious. Some of the final versions still look pretty good, and I know I'll probably end up getting more than the three I have on preorder (Kirby, Pikachu, & Yoshi).

@Mop it up

I've read on a couple of different websites that the packaging keeps them from being used without opening them.

@TeamBrian1020

Indeed. I've watched several unboxing/unpackaging videos, and there's a silver-ish plate of sorts underneath the amiibo.

Aww, like Mop it Up I was hoping I could keep mine in the packaging. Boo!

@gojira @TeamBrian1020 That's lame.

Actually thinking about this further, I s'pose these things don't work like Skylanders do they? By that I mean, in most games I don't think you have to scan them every time to use the content, but rather they seem to act more like "unlock keys" where the content is always usable after just one scan. So the reason they can't be used in the box is probably so that people won't scan them and then return them to the store.

You won't be able to just return them to Target or Toys R Us, but I imagine there'll still be a solid secondary market for used Amiibos. My local game stores sell secondhand Skylanders and Disney Infinity figures; I figure used Amiibos will be joining them soon.

Does anyone know if Amiibos come with Club Nintendo codes? It'd be cool if you could register and get coins for them just like games.

I don't plan on buying too many of these things... just Samus for now. She can stand right next to my Wii U, I guess.
