If I get an Amiibo it will mainly be as a collectible, so I voted yes. I've got a few videogame related figures standing about in a bookshelf right now.
Of course. Though the only thing I wonder is if they get dusty, how easy will they be to clean? Would it damage anything to just rinse them under water?
@VofEscaflowne Not sure I'd want to find that out the hard way considering how pricey these things are, but if it's just dust that should come off with a soft cloth, right?
I think the problem is that a lot of these amiibos are pretty crevicey. Long term, it's going to be pretty hard to clean, say, Pit's hair without using water.
And that's right. If Nintendo can invent a word like amiibo, I can invent a word like crevicey. I do what I want.
@kriswright What about canned air or using the vacuum cleaner then?
I suppose, in a worst case scenario, you could put your Amiibo tilted upside down under running water so that the base stays dry while the rest gets a good showering. I doubt the paint job will be damaged from a bit of water alone.
I'll probably keep them right on the shelf with the Wii U. I don't plan on buying a special Amiibo case, but I don't want to toss them in a drawer or anything either.
If I happen to end up with any for some reason then yes, I would display it. If they work like Skylanders where they can be used on the portal without removing them from the box, then I'll also keep them sealed inside the box.
I don't have a collectibles display. I guess I can sit Kirby in front of my TV or something. It's either that or he goes into the game chest, to live in the darkness among the forgotten controllers...
The IGN video where they opened them up seemed to show something beneath the figure. I'm guessing it's a bit of aluminum foil or something to block people using these without opening the package.
For my part, I'm going to display my Samus amiibo next to my other two Samus figures. I doubt I'm going to buy more than a few, so I won't have to worry about space.
Maybe. But, based upon the downgraded retail versions, probably not. They looked super slick initially, but many now look super cheap - as if bought out of a gumball machine or something (based upon retail un-packaging videos).
