amiibo is certainly turning out to be a big thing in Nintendo's eyes. Whether or not the rewards for utilizing each amiibo is worthy to you, Nintendo plans to implement all sorts of bonuses. It appears right now that every amiibo is meant to do 'something' in each game though games not featuring certain characters may have more limited uses or lesser-valued ones. We've had plenty of threads on here for amiibo and I'm sure that will continue. Still, I wanted to establish a general discussion thread that doesn't have a specific focus or thought. We'll also use this thread for informing the forums about upcoming news regarding new waves of amiibo or new compatibility. Enjoy! Tell us which amiibo you're planning to get! To get the party started, here are the various waves of amiibo on their way, compatibility information from Nintendo's website, and various links to other threads regarding amiibo.
Super Smash Bros for Wii U, Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Yoshi's Woolly World, Splatoon, CodeName: S.T.E.A.M., ACE COMBAT ASSAULT HORIZON LEGACY, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, and more…
It's $30 for a two-year subscription, and it gets you 20% off all new games, 10% off all used games, and some other benefits. The discount also stacks with any sales and clearance they offer, with exception of Black Friday weekend in which case it does not apply to anything. Even though it just says "games," the 20% off also works on toys-to-life figures, which includes amiibo.
$30 isn't much for two years. If you bought only three games at $60 each during that time, you'd save money. I'd guess most of us here buy a lot more than that in two years. The downside for some is that it's physical games only, it does not work on eShop cards or download codes.
Did anyone still need Gold Mario? Available on Toys R Us right now, and Amazon (upmarked), and I saw a lot of "rare" ones in my local GameStop earlier today, after seeing a lot of 'rare' ones at my other GameStop last week. Bonkers.
I think I'm gonna order the 'set' of the newer Super Mario Bros. series ones off of Amazon, get 'em all at once (marked down). Glad I got Guardian Day 1, but now I'm a bit worried about the OTHER Zelda series I bought none of. Wind Waker ones tough to find??
I'm starting to fall into the amiibo wormhole. I was trying to get an uber wolf link amiibo, but I had to get a Zelda amiibo so I could heal up. While I was at it, I bought Gannondorf and Link to have a nice set.
Hopefully I don't liquidate all my assets to buy a bunch of amiibos
