amiibo is certainly turning out to be a big thing in Nintendo's eyes. Whether or not the rewards for utilizing each amiibo is worthy to you, Nintendo plans to implement all sorts of bonuses. It appears right now that every amiibo is meant to do 'something' in each game though games not featuring certain characters may have more limited uses or lesser-valued ones. We've had plenty of threads on here for amiibo and I'm sure that will continue. Still, I wanted to establish a general discussion thread that doesn't have a specific focus or thought. I got an email from Toys R Us telling me about my Lucario pre-order, and how I can start buying him on 1/30. Nice!

I also got a call from Ivy at GameStop..telling me that "your game" would be in on Friday. I'm pretty sure its an Amiibo..but which one(s)? The way I've been doing it (anyway), is to hit the other stores first, and use GameStop as my backstop. They don't get upset about it, I simply slide my reserve to something else and everyone is happy. Why NOT work with a safety net? It rulez.

EDIT- My Best Buy has a constant poor selection, and my Target is inept. Wasted trip(s).

Well, the wife hit a hundred or so stores today in an effort to become even more infuriated at Nintendo, and mission accomplished! She was told that Friday seems to be the day for Toys R Us and Lucario, so I'm not exactly sure what I'll do there. Stores open at 10 and I'll be working. She got no clear answer at either best buy or gamestop on when to expect anything, or if Shulk will even be available to buy off the shelf. At a different Target from the one I had my experience with, she came across several boxes of amiibo, with a very healthy allotment of Rosalinas. I still plan on buying all 3 I have on hold if possible, but it seems they may have more than a few to go around at different stores. Here's hoping people have no trouble finding what they're looking for!

Stache and I received e-mails confirming the Friday/Lucario connection. I really do think that these specific-retailer ones will have a lot to go around since all Nintendo has to do is stock that one specific store. Whether or not scalpers are fought off with amiibo purchase limits is another story.

I just received word that my Rosalina shipped. So it's looking like my lucky preorder in the website in that 30 min window is paying off.

Supposedly Target is pushing a hard "1 per customer" for Rosalinas. I don't know if that applies to all amiibo.

To clarify, the only ones that people are losing their heads over -right now- are the store-specific figures..right? I ask, because I'm going to "Hunt First, Use GameStop Second." That way, if I find a Little Mac out there, I'll have two and can send one to Ludist. See?

I'm pretty sure Target locked down all amiibo from Wave 3 to 2/1 as of yesterday. The only one they could sell from that bunch was Sheik, but I think corporate caught on. Don't hold me to that...just read anecdotal evidence on GAF.

But I locked down a Rosalina & Luma, Ike, and Meta Knight yesterday. I've already got Mega Man on order. I want to get Sheik, Bowser, Dedede, and Sonic at some point...I think Sheik will be the hardest to obtain from that bunch, but we'll see. I'll check TRU on the way to my daughter's dance class tonight.

I might have a Shulk on the way too...I have one extra Pit, and a guy from GAF has offered his second Shulk if the order pushes through. We'll see though.

Word is that with Target leaving Canada, they will sell Rosalina at various usual-suspects retailers in Canada in limited quantities.

Good but bad news kinda. Harder to fight scalping and just find in general depending on stocks.

Picked up Shulk this morning. I was gonna pick up Toon Link too but apparently it was already sold out from pre-orders. No stock for the shelf

They're selling them in Canada now?

Yeah I think I got the only Shulk here as far as I could tell. Toon Link was the only one but yeah... pre-ordered by someone else. Wal-Mart didn't have any of the new ones at all. I wouldn't have minded picking up Toon Link. I still got to saw it at the store and it looks great.

Apparently Lucario is in lower supply than I originally thought, and Meta Knight will not hit shelves without a pre-order. Shulk is the same...but Rosalina is apparently in abundance. This is all anecdotal.

Lucario get! TRU had a lot but they were all preorders. I held back a comment about how much that will all be if she scalped it, paid an extra two bucks towards The Special Olympics, and then left. She picked a good one too.

Apparently here in Canada Lucario won't be in stores until next Friday. That's cool I suppose.

I picked up my Bowser and Toon Link from EB Games today, and I saw a Shiek that I wasn't allowed to take. I have Shiek pre-ordered but apparently there's one person ahead of me. At least they're staying true to the pre-order crowd.

They told me sometime next week they'll be getting more in to cover pre-orders, so I should be able to get my Shulk and Shiek.

Our Gamestops got Bowsers in on wednesday. I went up and got one. Only other one I want out of this wave is Toon Link and Rosalina, and I'm not really worried if I don't get Rosalina. Over the weekend, probably wait until sunday, check the local Gamestops Target and Best Buy, since all those stores are in the same shopping plaza. Closest Toy R Us is 45 miles away, but thats fine since I'm not interested in Lucario, I think that is their exclusive.

Anyways, so far I got the Mario set, which includes Luigi, Peach, Bowser and Yoshi. That is why I want Rosalina, to round out that set. I also have Link and Zelda. I really want Ganondorf to round out that group....but I forgot about Sheik...hmmmm...I guess if I see her I'll pick her up.I got DK and Diddy Kong. The last two I have is Pikachu and Kirby. I've always loved the Pikachu character and ever sincevEpic Yarn, I've had a soft spot for Kirby. As far as getting anymore for the Kirby group, I'm really not interested, but if I see a Meta Knight or King Dee Dee Dee, I might snag them, but it really depends on my fundage situation. After mid Feb., I'll have my tax refund, so then I can load up, if there is anything available. Honestly, the only Amiibo I don't have, that I want is Star Fox.

What really sucks is, I was at Walmart when these Amiibos released, and every single amiibo was there, Marth(my oldest son really wants that one), Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, ect, ect. I did not buy any cause I had no idea how crazy mad these things were going to sell. Esp., the three I mentioned. At that time, no one was talking about how hard some of them 'might' be on a limited run, ect. If I would have had any inkling of knowledge about how these things were going to sell and how much people would be willing to fork out on ebay,amazon, ect, I would have probably bought 5 of each of the ones I mentioned. Sorry, I know the scalpers suck, but I always have started my auctions at a low price, usually around a buck, so the way I see it, its not my fault if people kept bidding and increased the price. Plus, I really could have used the extra cash, but oh well, no biggie. I do think its pathetic how much people forked out for some of these. Whats funny is, I guarentee, we will see, not only Marth, but all the first wave amiibos will be made available again. Though, only one I want is Star Fox, I don't give two shits for Wii Fit Trainer.

Now, from wave 4, I really, really want Pac-Man! Main reason is, cause Pac-Man is the game that really got me addicted on playing videogames. There was a family owned beer joint that also sold hot dogs/barbeque sandwiches, ect that my brother and I passed on the way home from school. One day he was like all excited and said I have to check out this arcade game that had in their game room. I remember spending hours in there just to play Pac-Man. There might be a few more I want from wave 4, but I honestly cannot remember any of the rest which are included in that wave. Definitely Ganondorf.

So far I have 12 amiibos, I honestly only planned on getting a couple, like Mario and Link, but once I saw them in person, I thought the overall quality was really great. I'm surprised they only cost $13 each. I have them all displayed on the wall around my tv. I'm using small push pins to hang the amiibos on and then underneath each amiibo, I have two more small pins for the packaging to reast on, that way the cardboard doesn't become distorted from hanging there year after year. I am not opening any of them. I never planned on using them with any games, plus I don't even own Smash Bros. since I'm not into the fighting genre, but my youngest son always wants to play when he comes over, and I don't mind playing, but I really suck hard. Seriously, I never win any matches. Same with Brawl and Melee. I just fumble around the controller when trying to play. Honestly, the game is too fast paced for me as well. I'm always losing site of my character, sometimes I start focusing in on my son's character. Seriously, when I say I suck, I'm not kidding. I feel bad that he wants to play and I do not, but it just isn't any fun knowing I'm never going to win, not that I need to win alot, ect., and I asked him, How can this be any fun for you, cause its not like I'm offering him a challenge.

So, I'm thinking, once I get my tax refund, I might buy Smash Bros, so I can practice. Heck, I might even buy another Mario amiibo, so I can get it trained up to level 50 and then I can fight against it. At least then, I think I will enjoy playing against my son since my skills will be somewhat improved. I'm sure I will still suck, compared to him. At least I will offer more of a challenge.

Ok, where I am:

Got Lucario yesterday w/ Pre-Order (they only got 5 total), and used that as part of their 4 FOR $44 SALE. WOW! Finally got Mario, as well as *new* Bowser, and an extra Link that I was told I'll 100% be able to return and exchange for a Wave 3.2 character. I can dig it!

Talked HARD to people at Target; I've got a pretty good line on a Rosalina, but it requires me getting up at 7 something and being ready to enter the store at 8am on Sunday..which I will be doing. That should free up one of Koovaps' 3 if he's able to get all of those. Should help, yes?


Any idea when Meta Knights are supposed to (even w/ preorders) hit shelves? That one might give me a problem...

Good luck getting Rosalina! I'm hoping my preorder makes it here cause we're about to be slammed with snow and I wont be driving anywhere tomorrow morning. I'd have to not get up at 7, but leave at 7 to make it to a Target by 8am.

No best buy in this area has any damn idea when they're getting any wave 3 amiibo. We went to a few stores, and they couldn't find any in stock yet at all. And Meta Knight only has a placeholder date in their system for when it's supposed to come out, so who knows what's going on.

I had no luck with Lucario. I tried to get there at open on Friday, but they had already given tickets out for the 3 they had available without preorder. Boooo! As for Rosalina, even if I'm not able to buy all 3 I should have held, I do plan on hitting a different target with Amanda to get others as well. So I should get at least 3 in my possession either way, hopefully. Gamestops around here told me they only hold preorders for 48 hrs, so I may try for a Shulk tomorrow as well.

I was able to snag the last Bowser at one of the EB Games here. All the stores that Ploot and I hit up today were only stocked with the usual Mario, Luigi, etc. I was hoping that I'd find a Toon Link today too but no such luck.

No stores had labels or places on the shelves for any of the wave 3 characters.

I too am really hoping for Meta Knight and Mega Man. Hoping they won't be too difficult to get.
