amiibo is certainly turning out to be a big thing in Nintendo's eyes. Whether or not the rewards for utilizing each amiibo is worthy to you, Nintendo plans to implement all sorts of bonuses. It appears right now that every amiibo is meant to do 'something' in each game though games not featuring certain characters may have more limited uses or lesser-valued ones. We've had plenty of threads on here for amiibo and I'm sure that will continue. Still, I wanted to establish a general discussion thread that doesn't have a specific focus or thought. What's a good way to open them without damaging the package too much? I'd like to keep the package because they look nice and it's probably the best place to store them. No need to worry about dust when they're inside the package, and easier to move around to boot.

The Mrs_ destroyed the Villager packaging (bubble is completely removed), but for Link I just kinda started at the bottom and began slowly peeling. Its ripped down there, but a pretty good "transfer?" The top is still completely attached.

EDIT- On the topic of "moving around," have you considered the Amiibo Carrying Case? Its a real thing! I've seen it at Target.

If they're all buffed to an unfair degree..it becomes fair again.

1. Went on GameStop website, saw Pit stock in Amherst, NY. Called 'em up.

2. Guy on phone went to check to see if it was tied up in a reserve. It may've been, but that is now irrelevant. He told me that even if it was, what he could do was order from the warehouse. I questioned him, because that seems unlikely. Told him I was from Rochester, so I couldn't easily make the trip.

3. He told me that I could go to ANY GameStop and ask them to order from the warehouse. I questioned him again, to make sure I had it all straight. He said I did, and I thanked him.

4. Called my local GameStop, told them my story. They looked it up..and verified it. What the heck is going on?

5. Got money from the ATM area, went to GameStop. Everyone kept talking to me about the Bills game that I was taping, uneasy on two fronts. Paid my cash, receipt and print-out given to me. Pit will be arriving TO MY HOUSE within the week. And then I got KFC. Celebrate.


What YOU can do:
THE SAME THING. Simply go to your GameStop (run, don't walk), ask them about having Pit (or Little Mac, who was ALSO available now; didn't get a chance to check for the Original 3, though it wouldn't shock me if they're also available in extremely limited quantities) delivered straight to your house from the warehouse. The website that we plebes see is a different website than THEY see.

I was at a movie and dinner and got your message too late to take advantage today, but I'll definitely check it out tomorrow. Pit and Marth are the only guys I need now, so fingers crossed!

Trish surprised me with Captain Falcon and Pit on Christmas day. She also grabbed me Mario. With that I have completed the collection to this point.

Now I'm worried about the next wave.
I currently have no way to cement a Dedede, Meta Knight, Lucario, Ike or Rosalina. All the rest I have on pre-order.

I need a better place to display these things.

I have a grand total of one. Mario. I want them all!!!!

So thank you for your post. While I didn't end up doing what you did, your post inspired me to check gamestop and try. And when I did their computers said they should have some in by today. He said probably within the hour. So I went and had lunch with my girlfriend and when we came back there was one left... the clerk said if I hadn't come by noon he was going to buy it for himself. So glad I checked into this.

I now own Pit!!!! Woo!

You can always import from Amazon.fr. If you bundle them, the shipping isn't too bad (maybe $10 USD) and they don't seem to be as hard to get ahold of in Europe.

That looks rad! I need a final destination (I'M GOING TO BUILD A FINAL DESTINATION) for my Amiibo.

Is Ike one of the ones that reserved out fast? Man, I KNEW it! Did you check GameStop? Last I heard, the only one they couldn't do was Shulk.

I love that because I am late to the Amiibo game I have to pay the scalper price. I got Link as a gift, just got Little Mac in the Mail after paying $31.50 then I went to pre-order Shulk a few days before Christmas and game stopped taking pre-orders... Shulk is the last one I want and I can't get him. I am still looking for a Little Mac at a normal price so I can sell it on Ebay for the $31.50 so I can get my money back.

Go to GameStop, ask about their warehouse inventory. Little Mac was available that way as of Sunday.

I love how horrible the Link one looks based on photos. It's like he's trying to brood or something, it's kind of amazing.

The Gamestop here (EB Games) won't allow preordering of those characters for some reason.

Actually, though, I just got my Little Mac in the mail today, and Falcon shouldn't be far behind. And my beautiful wife managed to snag a Pit through toysrus.com this morning. It was back ordered, but it let her order one, so now I'm only on the lookout for Marth. For wave 3, I don't have a preorder for Meta knight, Rosalina, Shulk, and Lucario. I'm not holding my breath about Marth, but I pray Nintendo releases more.
