amiibo is certainly turning out to be a big thing in Nintendo's eyes. Whether or not the rewards for utilizing each amiibo is worthy to you, Nintendo plans to implement all sorts of bonuses. It appears right now that every amiibo is meant to do 'something' in each game though games not featuring certain characters may have more limited uses or lesser-valued ones. We've had plenty of threads on here for amiibo and I'm sure that will continue. Still, I wanted to establish a general discussion thread that doesn't have a specific focus or thought. We'll also use this thread for informing the forums about upcoming news regarding new waves of amiibo or new compatibility. Enjoy! Tell us which amiibo you're planning to get! To get the party started, here are the various waves of amiibo on their way, compatibility information from Nintendo's website, and various links to other threads regarding amiibo.
Super Smash Bros for Wii U, Mario Kart 8, Hyrule Warriors, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, Yoshi's Woolly World, Splatoon, CodeName: S.T.E.A.M., ACE COMBAT ASSAULT HORIZON LEGACY, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, and more…
What or how was it cancelled? I received an email that my Sonic preorder from Toysrus was cancelled too... so I preordered from Gamestop instead. Was weird that happened.
I have a Lucario preorder still which I nabbed after you offered your spare. Hopefully mine doesn't cancel. You still have your one? Maybe they are cancelling anything more than one per customer? To fight scalpers or something.
fucking ToysRUs cancelled all my preorders with them with no grounds to do so. So I lost my Lucario pre-order, Sonic, Ike, and Pit. I hope I can find some (of Pit) in store tomorrow or I just got burned. This is g'damn bullshit. In the end it's my fault for giving a shit about these things but why are they so impossible to secure cleanly?\
Edit: Apparently every TRU order was cancelled... a system glitch perhaps? They claim all pre-orders will still be upheld... I dunno.
I'll try to reserve Lucario in person but dude, brick and mortar or not, my TRU wouldn't do it last time I tried. Did you just talk to someone or was there some kind of ticket you could bring to a register?
If the urge to collect is there, and you're even thinking about allowing it, you had better stop resisting pronto. Near impossible to get 3 of them that released less than a month ago, and ones that came out earlier THIS week are already tough to find. That doesn't bode well for fencesitters!
I thought you were straight-edge! I mean, even as a child, I never played with 'toys'. I lack the imagination. So it's more of a weird consumer illness.
Regardless, I NEED Captain Falcon. What a hilarious elf-on-the-shelf he would make.
They didn't have any tickets when I was there. I went back today cause I was nearby and managed to secure the last Lucario preorder card they had. I know they exist but it's not always guaranteed.
I just checked another Gamestop, Target, and now a Best Buy and I just don't see any Captain Falcons or Pits. Luigi is moderately abundant though.
I supposedly still have a preorder for Captain Falcon but TRU killed my Pit preorder and now I'm at risk of having that be the one making my collection incomplete. Hoping I, or someone else, can find one for me. I'd love to find Captain Falcon and just cancel whatever vague preorder I have since there seems to be no word on that.
Are we certain Captain Falcon and Pit are released yet? I guess Luigi is kind of a clue no?
I'm officially done with amiibo. Thanks Nintendo! I'll enjoy the heck out of whatever Amanda's already bought me, but I refuse to have her chase these stupid things down anymore. Neither of us have time for this crap. Wave 3 can completely go F itself.
As far as I'm concerned, I shouldn't have to preorder. I honestly haven't tried yet. A part of my attitude is definitely reading the craziness on here. We haven't tried half as hard as several of you guys. We simply pop into our local TRU/Target/Walmart as we're shopping, and see what's there. And honestly TRU seems to be the only retailer with stock worth checking out. All other stores I've seen barely have anything. I'm a bit tickled that I deliberately passed on Diddy and Little Mac at TRU because I refuse to buy my own gifts, and of course, now those two haven't been seen in a while. I actually do understand why Nintendo wouldn't stock equal numbers of all characters, but as they sell out, they have to be replenished. I'll be curious to see how this shakes out post holiday. I actually just read somewhere Miyamoto (I think) mentioning something about releasing cards for hard to find characters that will function the same way. What?! As though the fervor over these things is actually about leveling up characters in Smash! Ha!
Also, I understand these are being bought up to be sold, but are they actually selling for ridiculous prices, because I honestly can't imagine who would buy them for ridiculous prices.
I got hosed by TRU with Pit, so I'm winding down my search(es) as well. I pre-ordered Pit as part of their 2 for $22 deal Thursday, even though I had a pre-order on Pit at Best Buy. Saved me a couple of bucks, so I did the logical thing and canceled my pre-order with Best Buy once my TRU order was confirmed...and then TRU canceled my order (and a load of other's) the next morning. So, yep.
Rosalina...don't get me started on that. I'm importing her from Amazon France ($23.75 total, including shipping) just to avoid the hassle. From here on, it's just the ones I want, not all of them...and those are few and far between.
