General amiibo Discussion Thread

amiibo is certainly turning out to be a big thing in Nintendo's eyes. Whether or not the rewards for utilizing each amiibo is worthy to you, Nintendo plans to implement all sorts of bonuses. It appears right now that every amiibo is meant to do 'something' in each game though games not featuring certain characters may have more limited uses or lesser-valued ones. We've had plenty of threads on here for amiibo and I'm sure that will continue. Still, I wanted to establish a general discussion thread that doesn't have a specific focus or thought. We'll also use this thread for informing the forums about upcoming news regarding new waves of amiibo or new compatibility. Enjoy! Tell us which amiibo you're planning to get! To get the party started, here are the various waves of amiibo on their way, compatibility information from Nintendo's website, and various links to other threads regarding amiibo.

@DrFinkelstein

It’s still crappy that you need to look here, there, any everywhere to find some of these. The second mostly recent batch of Zelda ones went out(Skyward Sword, Majora’s Mask, and Twilight Princess) I missed the preorder, and I’ve never seen them available again anywhere other than eBay. :/ I don’t wanna pay jacked prices for the set but I don’t know if they’ll ever be available again since they were retailer exclusive.

For whatever reason I was able to get the Metroid Amiibos from Amazon Fresh even though they were sold out on the normal Amazon. That's right, Amazon Fresh the grocery service. They came delivered to my door cold from the fridge in a plastic bag. The delivery guy didn't even bat an eye he must see crazy shit like this all the time. WTF?!

EDIT: I just checked and they still have them at Amazon Fresh in my area! Maybe you should see if they have it near you? You can get some peanut butter, some OJ, and some Amiibo delivered lol.

I recently picked up the Metroid 2 pack from BestBuy.com and the Guardian from Target.com. They're the first ones I'm considering not opening. Thing is, I've got two young sons, I'll open them. Or they will when I'm not looking, haha!

As previously noted, my original Link appears to have embarked on a perilous quest from which I fear he may never return. I've sent out a few search parties, but alas, no news.

So I was clearing some space on my TV desk for my Mini SNES this morning. This evolved into a full dusting of the table, then a reorganization of my of my computer desk and finally a fullblown Level 3 Biohazard cleanup of my entire damn bedroom.

....And I finally located Link, tucked among the computer cables behind my desk where he'd toppled many moons ago! The Hero has returned! Yay!

....I still haven't connected the SNES yet. This is better.

I ended up getting 2 Metroid bundles so I could keep one in the box. This is like the first time I've ever done something like that, I'm not a big collector. I just freaking love the Metroid Amiibos, they're stellar.

I don't want to enter the Metroid Dread thread yet because I don't want spoilers. I'm making a good clip through but I know people who already beat it multiple times and I just don't want to take chances. That said...

I have both the new Samus and E.M.M.I. amiibos. I hear that scanning them somehow gets you a new energy tank and a new missile expansion respectively. However my question is..

Would this bonus be permanent to your file? Or is it per that session? And if it is permanent, does it affect your chance at 100%ing the game in any way?

Thanks if anyone can help explain that.

I don't think this is a spoiler... it says what they do on the box, I think :p

Anyway, yes, the Dread amiibo each give you a one time bonus, respectively, that sticks to your save file. They then will do their normal thing once per day. No, it doesn't affect final game % from what I've seen.
