amiibo is certainly turning out to be a big thing in Nintendo's eyes. Whether or not the rewards for utilizing each amiibo is worthy to you, Nintendo plans to implement all sorts of bonuses. It appears right now that every amiibo is meant to do 'something' in each game though games not featuring certain characters may have more limited uses or lesser-valued ones. We've had plenty of threads on here for amiibo and I'm sure that will continue. Still, I wanted to establish a general discussion thread that doesn't have a specific focus or thought. From the first wave, I'm getting: Wii Fit Trainer (cause she rocks), Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Samus, Link, and Villager.

I love them. I want to marry them.

Well Toys R Us (Lucario), Best Buy (Meta Knight), and Gamestop (Shulk) are all going to have a Wave 3 exclusive figure, as is Target (Rosalina). You can preorder all of them other than Rosalina at this point. I've never had an issue with an online preorder not being fulfilled.

If someone is looking to get them all, it's hard to avoid the fact that you'll need to preorder them at this point, or risk rolling the dice on which are going to be rare. Wii Fit Trainer isn't super surprising I suppose, and neither is Marth. But Villager is kind of weird considering the popularity of Animal Crossing, so who knows what in Waves 2 and 3 will end up being hard to find.

Just go brick and mortar. No lost shipment, its there on Day 1. Walk in, pick up, walk out.

GameStop isn't THE DEVIL that a lot of people have cracked it up to be (ESPECIALLY when it comes to pre-orders).

I'm guessing Little Mac is going to be a chase figure, and I'm guessing Ike from Wave 3 won't be easy to find either. I've reserved both (at GameStop) already.

Also, Toys R Us currently has a "buy one get one 40%" off deal that applies to amiibo.

Best Buy is saying Villager and Wii Fit Trainer are discontinued but that Marth will be restocked. I can't believe how ridiculous this is and how hard it is to get someone to put some sort of end to this.

I have Mega Man, Sonic, Ike, and Shiek on order.

I want Mario, Kirby, Yoshi, and Samus from what's currently available. I want Bowser once he's available too, but I don't anticipate him being difficult to find.

I want Robin, Luicina, Ness, Pac-Man, Ganondorf, Zero Suit Samus, Palutena, Rosalina & Luma, and possibly Duck Hunt and ROB (because why not?) once they're announced. Aside from that, That's it. That's...a lot. More than I really care to admit to buying.

I've seen a dozen Wii Fit Trainers in the wild recently...I don't believe it. If it's true, I get it, and I'd get Marth...but Villager? Animal Crossing is pretty popular. Why would that get discontinued so suddenly?

Yeah, but the audience for Animal Crossing is more likely to buy an AC figure than my mother is to buy a Wii Fit Trainer.

I'll keep an eye out for it, but the last few places I've gone I've literally seen 4 Amiibo's in the wild.

I see Marios, Links, Peaches, and Donkey Kongs everywhere. Some Kirbys, too. Other than that, it's been a while since I've seen any other wave ones in the Boston area. I troll for the 3 rares at this point to see if I can get them for folks here, but there is no joy.

I see all of those plus Samus, Fox, and Pikachu, and Yoshi consistently when I'm out looking. I've seen Wii Fit Trainer in more than one place, and a half-dozen Marths in one go once.

I kinda want Pit, but I don't have many ties to the series and I don't main him...but I do use Palutena a good bit. Hmmm.

Imagine if Fire Emblem Wii U is announced and you need Marth to unlock something significant.

Lucario pre-orders are sold out on Toysrus.com... WTF. Scalpers? Since when was he THAT popular?

Edit: Like a mad-man I just finished pre-ordering all the future ones except for Rosalina & Luma and Lucario.

I'll have to check Toysrus for Lucario tomorrow. On the bright side, at least most of them are resolved now and don't come out till February... so I wont be charged till then. Rosalina & Luma... NOBODY has it listed anymore. I wonder if it's being moved from February to a later date.
