Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow (Nintendo DS) Review (9.8)  by

So I picked this up for cheap at gamestop and found out that it doesn't have a discussion thread.

Also tomahawks OP.

I really enjoyed my time with this one. Soul-collecting though...a bit tedious if you're going for 100%. I found a few combos that I liked and mostly stuck with those.

As you can see from my review up top on the OP, I absolutely loved this game. It's my favorite Metroidvania game on Nintendo Handhelds. It's funny, since I just finished Aria, I decided to give this game a spin yesterday before work. I defeated the first boss and I'm about to continue right now.

I was actually thinkng of firing this game up again for another spin. It's in my Top 3 of the Castlevania series. And my #1 favorite DS game ever. Crazy how this thread just kind of popped up all of a sudden.

Maybe after I finish up A Link Between Worlds, I will snap this into my old DS Lite and go through the adventure again. It's been a long enough time that I think a lot of it will end up feeling fresh (again).

Looking forward to it!

I just played this for Shocktoberfest too. I didn't think it was anything special, but it was a solid enough adventure to be enjoyable.

@ludist210 Yeah, the soul stuff was definitely irksome. I remember coming to a point where I needed a couple of the random soul powers to pass a barrier instead of the guaranteed boss powers, and it took me a couple of hours to get them. The soul drops shouldn't have been random and instead based on some other factor, such as defeating a certain number of the same enemy perhaps.
