Anyone been playing this? I got the Steam version and have been liking it a lot. It's very much a pick-up-and-play game, so it would be perfect on 3DS.

Don't go in expecting a ton of modes--there's only one mode and then a harder version of it. Might not sound like much, but what's there is really, really fun. It's kind of like a crazy-fast version of Mario Bros.. Think of it like you're paying five bucks upfront to play the best arcade game ever for as long as you want as opposed to putting in a quarter each time. I was trying to think of a way to describe the hard mode in the game and the word "bonkers" kept coming to mind, which is appropriate since that mode is called "Bonkers Mode."

But yeah, check it out if you like Super Crate Box (which it doesn't play anything like at all, despite having a similar level layout) or the original Mario Bros..

This is pretty addicting. I'm really enjoying it. Way more than I thought I would. It's got that "just one more time" appeal to it. A joy to play.

I've played only the tiniest bit. Gotta say, it's not blowin' me away so far. That said, I don't really understand the rules yet. (For instance, I initially assumed that you had to avoid the skulls.)

I'll try to post more educated impressions later.

@Anand

It's easier to group all of the eggs together, preferably at the top of course, and then try to take them out with a skull. If any hatch, just take them out with eggs if no skulls are available. Usually you can get the timing down where you can easily take out any enemies before they even get off of the top platform. It becomes a bit more hectic once things start going faster or you lose platforms. Or of course if you're playing Bonkers difficulty

Okay, I'll try that out. So there's nothing bad about the skulls, eh? So unintuitive.

@Anand
They explode on you.

@Anand

Yeah they'll change color and explode shortly after. I've died plenty of times from them Also avoid letting them explode near "POW" blocks since you'll lose it!

Noted! I'll try to get good.

I avoided the skulls at first, too.

Pretty awesome little game. I got totally addicted. Took me far longer than I'd like to admit unlocking the Bonkers difficulty, though. I'd always die with $1.47 or so. Very frustrating.

I like the risk/reward thing going on: you can kill eggs as soon as you see them, but if you let enemies upgrade fully, you get far more coins. But of course, that means more enemies on screen, and watching out of enemies jumping out of the lava below you.

Bonkers mode probably more fun than Normal. I don't like how long the game takes to ramp up.

@Guillaume

Yeah, once I realized that, I really began to appreciate how well thought-out the game is. You could in theory just keep hording eggs on the top two platforms, but that takes too long once you factor in the UFOs that will inevitably mess you up.

My high score in Normal is $3.04 and in Bonkers is $2.07.

I got to $1.44, then died. Grah, so close...!

UNLOCKED BONKERS MODE! GOT TO $1.54 LAST NIGHT! W00T!

You know what? I happily admit that I was wrong. This game is awesome. It makes the 45-minute train ride vanish.

Normal Mode does take way too long to get going, though. And I feel like there's almost no way to survive for very long once things get going. It's more about staving off death. Which is fine, I guess.

My ideal would be a game that ramps up quickly, but then has a smoother difficulty curve, with variety added in through more enemies/elements before gradually increasing the insanity. The difficulty curve now is almost asymptotic.

But that would be a different game. Woah, Dave is probably supposed to be a quarter muncher which you can always pick up and play. And then put down. Because you've died.

Unclear on what the objective is in this game. Is there a certain amount of coins you're trying to reach or just looking to set a high score? Music sure is good though.

@Jargon

It's just a high score based game.

It's an arcade game, basicallly. Just play it for a while. You'll catch on.

I tried to get into this game but it's not really doing it for me.

Did anyone else grab the HD version of Woah, Dave on Wii U? It's free to download if you have the 3DS version, and it even has extra modes and styles. Sweet!

I meant to just test it out once or twice, but then I got sucked in for an hour plus...

Yeah, downloaded it last night and there's some surprising stuff in there. Something I won't spoil happened when I killed a special UFO.

Actually, maybe that was also in the original and I didn't play it enough to see it?
