Through all the stories and all the timelines found in the Zelda series... nobody saw this coming. Koei Tecmo and Nintendo team up to take the Dynasty Warriors formula, toss in a lot of Zelda-franchise fan service, and blend that stuff together in a funky mish-mash of Zelda lore that only the Wind Fish could dream up. That game is called Hyrule Warriors. I was admittedly hesitant on this title upon first announcement. I had no idea what the Dynasty Warriors franchise was all about. I knew I loved Zelda. It wasn't until the excellent Nintendo Direct (embedded below) which sold me on the idea. I'm seeing a lot of reviews, which started coming in today, and they seem to agree that this isn't much of a Zelda game. I have to point out, the name borrows the Warriors from Dynasty Warriors and not Zelda. This alone helps me see what Koei Tecmo and Nintendo were aiming for. This isn't going to be a Zelda main-line game nor is it striving to be. For what it's goals are, and for what Nintendo has contributed to it, I'm pretty excited myself and now there's less than 10 days remaining. The game releases on September 26th, 2014. Fun Facts1.) Sends Link and 12 other playable characters from various Zelda universes into other universes. Mixing things up! 2.) Loaded with various locales, enemies, bosses, items, and music from throughout the Legend of Zelda series. 3.) Series offers plenty of DLC options (detailed below). 4.) Tons of combos and special moves for each character. 5.) 2-player Co-Op (though I hear it's pretty hard on the Wii U processing) 6.) Unique 'Adventure Mode' taking players back into the NES' The Legend of Zelda for a mix of challenges and adventure! So we have some news regarding the next DLC pack... first off... it releases November 27th GLOBALLY! Next here's what Aonuma had to say... spoilers I guess. It's DLC but if you bought the DLC in bulk and am trying to be surprised with each digital delivery, please move past this uncensored post now.- -- --- ---- ----- ------ ------- -------- --------- ---------- --------- -------- ------- ------ ----- ---- --- -- -Aonuma said:Greetings to everyone in our The Legend of Zelda community! I'm Eiji Aonuma, the supervisor for Hyrule Warriors, and I'm happy to talk to you all again.
The second DLC pack for Hyrule Warriors, the Twilight Princess Pack, will be released soon, so today I would like to give you a sneak peek at what's inside.
The highlight of the first DLC pack, the Master Quest Pack, was being able to team Link up with Epona. This time around, there will be a new playable character - someone from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess... Who do you think it is?
Here's a hint: this character only appeared in this form at the very end of Twilight Princess.
In that game, Midna is cursed and cast out from the Twilight Realm, but now you will be able to unleash her true form as Twili Midna!
When I was developing Twilight Princess, I thought it was such a waste to let a beautiful princess like her only appear in the ending. Now Koei Tecmo Games has made my wish to see more of her come true.
Twili Midna's weapon is the Mirror of Twilight, which appeared in Twilight Princess. This mirror was destroyed at the end of that game, but it's pretty amazing in Hyrule Warriors. In fact, I can't describe in words what's so amazing about it, so I hope you'll download this DLC pack and see for yourself.
In addition to Twili Midna, the Twilight Princess Pack includes new weapons, costumes and an adventure map, so if you played through the original game, they should contribute to the fun you'll have in Hyrule Warriors. (For one of the costumes, you can dress Link up as a certain familiar character from the Zelda series. It may make you say ""Wow!"" so I hope you'll look forward to it.)
The second DLC pack for Hyrule Warriors, the Twilight Princess Pack, will be released globally on November 27! Click this image to see the new screen of Twili Midna.

New DLC is out and it took awhile for it to work for me. Started up the game and got the Patch 1.4 notes, noticed I didn't get any of the actual content so I restarted...still nothing. Turned off the system, let it sit there for a few hours, and then it worked!
Haven't really jumped deep into it, since I'm still working on the other content...
Twili Midna is pretty strong, her range on strong attacks is insanely high. I don't like the noise she makes while running, but at least she's not one of those characters who needs to constantly "buff" themselves to do normal damage like Fi, I like the Ganondorf style more which she is in line with.
Only did one of the adventure levels and it was different from anything else. Had to kill the two elites at the same time which wasn't hard with my now level 90 Link.
Levels raised to 150, so someday...maybe. Item drops up to x999 instead of x99. Enemies can drop multiple materials, thus far I've only seen duplicate low quality item drops. Nothing like two Golds, one Silver and a Bronze, or anything like that. Link's new outfit is...well...and the Zelda one is pretty interesting. Haven't even unlocked or seen the other ones. Adventure Mode has new rules, like mentioned above. Twilight Portals (requiring everyone's favorite boob birds) and Twilight fog/haze that you need the Tears to lift. No idea where those items are located as nothing shows on the map. |
