Every new generation a great dawn emerges where a new game in the acclaimed Super Smash Bros. series graces Nintendo's newest consoles… for the Wii U, that time is almost upon us. Nintendo is truly pulling out all the stops with this one. Here's the breakdown on what we can expect… (Learn more at the Super Smash Bros. website.)
1.) 45+ playable characters (new characters, returning fighters, or accessible via alt costumes) 2.) Releasing November 21st, November 28th, or December 5th depending on your region 3.) Tons of content; from trophies to levels to music tracks to items to pokemon to modes… it seemingly never ends! 4.) Customizable Move-sets 5.) Many control setups; Wii U Gamepad, standard Wii U options, Gamecube controllers, even your 3DS! 6.) Online capable (and encouraged) 7.) Check out Nintendo's 50 Things You Should Know about Smash Bros! 8.) Stages exclusive to the Wii U version. Some epic stages! 9.) Amiibo Support for all existing Amiibos 10.) Gameplay lands somewhere between Melee and Brawl
As you can see, there really is something for everyone, perhaps more than ever before. As I wrote this whole post up, I was listening to the Super Smash Bros. Brawl soundtrack and remembering the hours and days and weeks and months of fun I've had with that game. This will be no different and really will shake the Wii U community up in the best ways. Nintendo is on the eve of quite possible the most acclaimed game the console will have. This is a very exciting moment for Nintendo gamers. Speaking back on the music, you can listen to a bunch of neat samples from the upcoming game at the SmashBros.com Music Page. Be sure to check out Kapp'n's Song! It's a personal favorite of mine. The 3DS version is to have two-songs per stage but the Wii U version is meant to have that and more, even some songs from past games as well.
Please enjoy a few of my favorite images found on the official Super Smash Bros. website.
The release date in North America is November 21st and it was just moved up to November 28th in Europe. For all other regions you can expect December 5th. In the mean time, there's always the 3DS version which looks incredible in it's own right! You can discuss it in Jargon's thread here; Super Smash Bros. 3DS. We should aim to keep this thread focused on the Wii U version so that the 3DS discussion ends up in it's right place. Keep in mind that the Daily Updates are still being provided by Sakurai (for a few more weeks at least) and the best place to find and discuss those is Stephen's Super Smash Bros. News Discussion (Roster Spoilers) Now With Daily Images thread. I do my best to update that daily with the Sakurai posts.
Who is your main? What are you most excited for? Finally, be sure to have your friends added on your Wii U! I'll do my best to keep this thread updated with the various users who are playing this online.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U: The Negative World Roster NW User Name - Nintendo Network ID - Nickname
This weekend's big Smash 4 tournament is maybe the biggest in the game's history, and they're using a visual mod pack to spruce it up a little.
Not everything looks so great, but man do I like that Pikachu Libre. And the MegaMan.EXE coloring looks nice too. I hope Nintendo goes all out on cosmetic DLC like this for Smash Switch. I would buy it all.
PS: Nintendo has launched an official "Nintendo Versus" Twitter account. Could they be committing more to eSports type stuff past this E3's invitational tournaments for Splatoon, ARMS, and Pokken?
Also, it looks to me like there's space on the left part of that header for another game, possibly...
The funny thing is, only Jigglypuff is in "Low Tier" and everybody else is Mid-Tier or higher. The character balance in this game is kind of unbelievable. It could definitely be better, but even at the highest levels of competition, almost every character has a real chance to win against everybody else.
Played For Glory for a couple hours on Friday night and last night both, which is more time than I've put into this game in months. Still so fun.
@pokepal148 For all their moveset differences, DK and Bowser are played almost identically at the pro level.
Step 1: Grab. Step 2: Up-throw (*cargo up-throw in DK's case) Step 3a: If they're in KO percent, follow up with an up-air to get the KO Step 3b: If they're not, use whatever aerial puts on the most damage (Bowser's neutral-air, DK's forward-air)
(Oversimplified, but those tools are so effective for both of them that they dominate the matchup and sort of negate all their differences).
It's fun seeing pro players switch off their top-tier characters for DK/Bowser in certain matchups and win with a couple stray hits and two or three grabs.
@Mop it up It is kind of a cop-out, but one that sorta makes sense when you look at how DK/Bowser are used at that level. Marth/Lucina and Pit/Dark Pit being tied definitely make sense, even if they have their slight differences as well. But yeah, a lot of people are disagreeing, for a variety of reasons. I think it's pretty valid, though.
The balance among casual players is way different than competitive. I remember when Little Mac was the bane of everybody's existence at launch lol
@carlosrox If you're in the right situation, like there, it's guaranteed to work (unless there's some crazy SDI thing they can do to escape it, I dunno). It's not something you just throw out and hope that it works, you go for it after an airdodge read or something. It's always been in the back of my mind as something that's an option, but I'm always so focused on recovering that I'm never watching for the opportunity to do it. Gonna try to be more mindful of that, as well as the safer version where you Aether-spike them at the ledge (while grabbing it yourself), which I've also never done intentionally, though it's happened by accident a few times.
I think I've played For Glory for an hour or so like every other day this week, which is a whole lot for me. I've even been matched up against another Ike every day! Incredibly fun matchup, Ike is perfectly equipped to exploit his own weaknesses lol.
As silly as this may seem, I enjoy seeing "personal" tier lists. Like sure, Shiek is probably among the best characters, but since I'm garbage with her and cannot access any of the utility so many say she has, she is functionally a low tier character in my personal rankings. And maybe Jigglypuff just isn't as good as most other characters, but since she's one of my best characters I am better equipped to access what she has to offer, making her a higher tier character in my personal list.
