Welcome to the official discussion thread for Splatoon on the Wii U!
To start, please add this game to your log, add it to your collection (if applicable), and (when you are ready) rate it using the link above!
Splatoon is Nintendo's unique twist on the shooter genre. Shoot ink on both your friends and environments to win the match! Players can turn into squids and 'swim' through their team's ink color. Players can also use their team's ink color to slow down enemy movement. It's ink or be inked in this chaotic marriage of third person shooters, de Blob, and good ole fashioned paintball.
@TriforceBun Dynamo Roller definitely CAN get very annoying, but rushing them before they shoot or making them miss then coming in shouldn't be too hard to do. I don't find that weapon especially offensive, I think other Rollers and Blasters are much worse, especially in ranked stuff like To see Control.
The soundtrack for Splatoon is gonna release in Japan. I hope they do the same for other regions.
Why don't all game companies sell all their soundtracks? What do they lose? It's already made.
I'd give so much money to game developers if they sold their soundtracks. Thankfully, some do. Like dat Max Payne 3 soundtrack. Yummy.
This game needs a replay and/or Youtube feature(as do all games really). Like, yesterday.
Something like MK8 or Smash would be nice.
It feels like what happens in Splatoon stays in Splatoon. I've seen so many awesome things playing that game and it feels like such a shame that it can't be seen again.
Could this be a coming update or do you think this is something they'd wait to use on Splatoon 2?
Tried out the new charger weapon tonight... kinda interesting compared to the other chargers! For one, it doesn't kill in one shot which is odd for a charger but its actual charge speed is ridiculously fast so that sort of makes up for it. It has learning curve to it having played as other charger weapons for a while now but once you get the hang of it, it's a pretty fun weapon to use.
Played Splatoon without any trouble earlier today, but as soon as Splatfest starts it's all connection errors and lag. Thank sweet lord Cthulhu the kickass battle theme is playing, keeping me from going nuts.
Had some fun rounds late last night helping my fellow Autobots. Some of these players are pretty amazing dodging shots by dipping in and out of the ink. I still focus on one thing at a time and I need to change that. Either I'm trying to paint every nook and cranny or I'm running around like its team death match. I need to have a good balance.
@mrbiggsly yeah, throwing my hat in with the deceptions as well.
I must say the splatling gun is really powerful in Port Mackerel. And if you can get the timing down for the minimum charge needed to kill? Oh goodness.
I take all sorts of stats and have a spreadsheet that calculates stuff. It's minimal input for a lot of output and it's something nerdy I do for Splatfest. My stats for this Splatfest are…. (and this is only for today, where I played from the start until I became a Autobots Queen)…
Total Matches: 46 Total Points Earned: 48,361 Average Points Earned: 1,051 Win Totals: 31 Loss Totals: 15 Longest Win Streak: 17 wins (match 9 through match 25) Port Mackerel chosen: 46% of the time Saltspray Rig chosen: 26% of the time Flounder Heights chosen: 28% of the time Best Win Percentage: 86.1% (match #21; Port Mackerel) Best Domination (their smallest percentage): 5.2% (match #21; Port Mackerel) Closest Match: 0.1% (match #9; Saltspray Rig) Most Points Earned in a Single Match: 1,478 (match #27; Flounder Heights)
