Splatoon is Nintendo's unique twist on the shooter genre. Shoot ink on both your friends and environments to win the match! Players can turn into squids and 'swim' through their team's ink color. Players can also use their team's ink color to slow down enemy movement. It's ink or be inked in this chaotic marriage of third person shooters, de Blob, and good ole fashioned paintball.
Stick with it! I've actually learned to prefer the motion control aiming of the Gamepad for fine tuning, and it's really useful to look down at the screen often to see where your enemies are currently painting... don't let those jerks slip through and paint over your valuable territory!
I'd actually consider this one of those Wii U games that makes excellent use of the Gamepad. I guess future iterations can just include a small map onscreen if they don't have the advantage of a second screen though.
I just beat the third boss in single player, and I absolutely adore the boss designs! The gameplay, sure, but the way they look is fantastic! Mario/Zelda quality design right there!
@DrFinkelstein Bwahaha! Considering how I performed these last few matches I'm more inclined to think that @Super_Conzo's saying that I dragged down our team, and him with it. Got myself splatted way too often. Last match I ran straight into one of those ink wall things, like an overexcited dog into a screen door.
I thought I was on a bit of a roll earlier today, though, when I played with/against Conzo and Theresa aka Osmicow of the IGN Wii Lobby. Gonna try a new weapon next time I log on, and see how that feels, but for now I need to recharge my Gamepad and have a bit to eat. Wouldn't stop playing if I didn't have to, though!
Not true, hjort, I would never hard stare a teammate. The truth is, you are a merciless killing machine and in most cases I was splatted before I even knew there was danger. That Theresa was pretty lethal too.
I needs to find my weapon. What have you guys been maining?
I might jump on this afternoon. My nephews have been capitalizing the single player mode but they are going home soon. I should probably eat, shower, and do other things that allow me to keep on existing. (like work tomorrow, BAHHHHH)
@Super_Conzo Aw shucks, you're way too kind! The way I remember it we usually splatted each other at about the same time quite a bit, especially on the Rig.
I've been using the Tentatek Splattershot most of the time, 'cause I think it's got decent range and power, and still manages to paint the floors around me fairly well. The Inkzooka special is pretty fun too.
@DrFinkelstein Might see you online then! Will probably pick up the GamePad again in a hour or so and just play for as long as the battery will allow me.
My internet was out last night (F-you Time Warner Cable) so I couldn't play online, but I played a few more levels of the single player and really enjoyed it. I think I'll keep playing that for a while until I get better at the controls. I find the aiming a bit "swimmy" and unruly, and it's really hard for me to shake the habit of trying to aim down sites, I just need some time to acclimate and get better.
