This May, one game will define MULTIPLAYER FUN on Wii U. That game, is Mario Kart 8!


Mario Kart has been a Nintendo staple since it's SNES debut over two decades ago. Only two Nintendo products neglected to have an entry and each entry that has existed is a charming title in someone's eyes. Entries like Double Dash on Gamecube helped push the boundaries of creativity and uniqueness, while more recent titles have continued to refine a core experience. Mario Kart 8 seeks to continue that trend with it's jaw-dropping HD visuals, Anti-gravity racing, and incredibly well-designed tracks.


With all the characters known, the deep customization possibilities to each individual racer, the classic 32-total track count... there's so much to discuss and share and debate. Reviews are just coming in now and while I'll post a few below but they're not all gushing with pride. User Stephen recently made a thread aiming to have a more comprehensive list of reviews available. So... Not in any "no items" races, no. Was that before or after Zero got there? Because I went to bed when Zero arrived.

I was the guy that the blue shell completely whiffed on. Between that and the fainting Duramboros, I'm doing pretty well with online glitches!

@ludist210 I can smell the fear from here. Afraid to face the mighty Zero.

No items races are pretty interesting. Not my favorite, but interesting. You make a small mistake, even a slight bump into a wall or a minor offroad, and you lose real ground.

The best I did was the Bowser's Castle, where I took second despite running into the dirt at one point. Makes me wonder what the rest of you were doing, I was sure when I hit that dirt that everyone was going to pass me...

Yeah, No Items No Coins was AWESOME. Our team was abysmal though. Not sure what the total scoop was, but I wish I personally could've done a lot better. I lost the draft on Toad's Turnpike. No good, sir.

I think our best race was the first. Toad's Airport (is that what its called? I don't freakin' CARE); we were all KNOTTED together. Rat's Nest Finish. Loved it.

My semester is over on Friday night, once I take (and hopefully make a 78 or higher on) the final. Then it ramps right back up on Monday. So I get a weekend. Woo!

So, I haven't read 48 pages of this thread, but just chiming in to say I got this for Fathers Day and had a blast playing with my kids.

Fun races last night with Lou, VofE, Kenny, Mop, and Ninsage (and Mrs. Ninsage?). Lou, we're about on even footing (14 wins, 17 losses against you). Mop, we aren't (0 wins, 9 losses against you).

I laughed out loud when Jesus (from New Jersey, no less) came in and played with us, then started saying, "Not fair!" after races he did poorly in. I don't know if that's funnier than when I played in the same group as Kim Jong-il in Mario Golf: World Tour...
