This May, one game will define MULTIPLAYER FUN on Wii U. That game, is Mario Kart 8!


Mario Kart has been a Nintendo staple since it's SNES debut over two decades ago. Only two Nintendo products neglected to have an entry and each entry that has existed is a charming title in someone's eyes. Entries like Double Dash on Gamecube helped push the boundaries of creativity and uniqueness, while more recent titles have continued to refine a core experience. Mario Kart 8 seeks to continue that trend with it's jaw-dropping HD visuals, Anti-gravity racing, and incredibly well-designed tracks.


With all the characters known, the deep customization possibilities to each individual racer, the classic 32-total track count... there's so much to discuss and share and debate. Reviews are just coming in now and while I'll post a few below but they're not all gushing with pride. User Stephen recently made a thread aiming to have a more comprehensive list of reviews available. So... Great racing with VofE, Scrawnton and Ploot just now. It's no secret I'm horrible at Mario Kart, but it was a blast to run that Yoshi Falls level and see the four of us in the top 4.

Steph and I will probably be on to race some more in a bit. See you guys there, probably!

That stupid lightning cup on 150cc. Every time I get screwed over at the last second by a blue/red shell. And Once I finally make it to rainbow road, I screw myself over. I have been trying to beat it for over 2 and a half hours. There were so many times I could do nothing to save myself. It felt like the game was rigged. Block one red shell, and a blue one takes it's place. Then I see bots get two mushrooms back to back while in first and I get a coin. I hate how rare it is to get that horn item. I have gotten it like a total of 5 times while in first.

Dang! Communication error right when the race was starting. That's weird, I haven't had any communication issues yet with this game. Oh well, I'll try to jump in in the next race.

One of my favorite tracks is Dolphin Shoals. The track is so well-designed around its underwater theme, and the music is fantastic. I love the speedy sax on the third lap!

I also like how the retro courses have been redesigned.

Yeah, I've seen some complaints about the retro tracks in this game, but I love pretty much all of them.

Yeah the retro tracks are some of the best at making them familiar enough but yet at the same feel a ton different. Turned N64 Rainbow Road from a dull overlong race to a rather entertaining and visually stunning race.
