NES Remix 2 Discussion (Nintendo Wii U) [game]
8.04/10 from 9 user ratings

Welcome to the official discussion thread for NES Remix 2 on the Wii U!

To start, please add this game to your log, add it to your collection (if applicable), and (when you are ready) rate it using the link above!

NES Remix 2 just released today and as many would agree, with a far better selection of games than the first game. On top of that, Miiverse implementation has been bumped up a notch with more features such as replays (only in-game) and actually listing which levels a post has been made on! Owners of both games can also participate in Championship Mode complete with leaderboards (though very bare in features). Last but not least, Super Luigi Bros. which is a mirrored port of Super Mario Bros. featuring Luigi is included with the game and also has Luigi's jumping mechanics. Come on in and discuss this sequel!

I haven't downloaded NES Remix 1 or 2. Would you guys recommend that I skip the first and jump straight to NES Remix 2, or should I start with NES Remix and then move onto the second game? I plan on getting both games eventually, so I'm tempted to start with the first. Both titles have games I want to play, along with some games that I don't care about.

2 was better in a lot of ways. It had better NES games and has a replay system. If you're struggling with a level, scroll through the Miiverse posts with the right analog stick, find one with a good time, and watch their replay. Pretty brilliant and helped me through a couple of difficult challenges (like Wario's Woods 8 since I was new to the game, but I did manage to ace all of its challenges). Plus it has Super Luigi Bros. built in. You can't access Championship Mode without owning both though...

1 was good, but a little raw. And the games just weren't as good. If you're only going to play one of them, get NES Remix 2.

There is a LOT of luck involved. Sometimes, the viruses are placed in such a way that you can set up chains will little effort.

I would think playing in the morning instead of in the evening would also improve your chances...

Why's that?

Well, they're daily, so I assume they reset at some point?

Unless every score disappears 24 hours after being posted. Then yeah, I guess the time of day doesn't matter.

Thanks for the help! I was hoping that Nintendo would release both games on a disc like they did in Japan, but that doesn't seem likely at this point.

Yeah I know what you mean. I actually went on a good run during lunch today and scored over 1300000! Problem was that was good enough for...11th place. Seriously.

What if one of those scores above you goes away? Wouldn't that make you 10th?

I haven't played through EVERYTHING yet in Remix 2, but I feel like even though Remix 1 had some not-as-good games, I feel like their challenges are..different somehow. Perhaps more challenging? I've Rainbow'd EVERYTHING I've done in Remix 2 so far (not that I wish it was so hard that I didn't get some of those; and I can promise you I don't want to do some of those challenges EVER again), but Remix 1 I just had to roll with it and shrug. A lot of bitching about Remix 1, too, not sure how your mindset is for stuff. Yeah, some of the games were garb, but that was the NES in a nutshell, haha.

All good. Went on a better Dr. Mario run last night (hit a five-chain combo early) and made it up to sixth place, so I went in and did a quick challenge and my stamp registered. So now I have stamps 1-98 and 100. I just need to beat Super Luigi Bros. to get 99 and I'll have 100%'d this game.

Dang jumps in world 8 are tricky with Luigi...

I haven't tried Super Luigi Bros. at all yet. Will do soon.

Tough week though; trying to shoot through old 24(s) so I can watch new 24.

It's all the same as Super Mario Bros., just backwards. And funky Luigi physics. I like the challenge. I just hate that I'm terrible at it.

Did you warp, or are you playing straight through? Does anyone play straight through anymore?
Posted: 05/14/14, 01:06:53

For the sake of the stamp, I'm warping. You can still continue though, so there's that.

As for your question about my SMB strategy in Championship Mode, here's basically how I did it (he did it faster). Don't aim for points necessarily, just go for speed.
