Welcome to the official discussion thread for NES Remix 2 on the Wii U!
To start, please add this game to your log, add it to your collection (if applicable), and (when you are ready) rate it using the link above!
NES Remix 2 just released today and as many would agree, with a far better selection of games than the first game. On top of that, Miiverse implementation has been bumped up a notch with more features such as replays (only in-game) and actually listing which levels a post has been made on! Owners of both games can also participate in Championship Mode complete with leaderboards (though very bare in features). Last but not least, Super Luigi Bros. which is a mirrored port of Super Mario Bros. featuring Luigi is included with the game and also has Luigi's jumping mechanics. Come on in and discuss this sequel!
I thought you guys were joking about the Wario's Woods backlash, for real.
What in the world. You guys (where applicable) gotta buck up.
--Nikki will SQUASH you at this game. It is by no means "broken." One of the guys who posted on one of the challenges said "there's 6 minutes of my life I'll never get back."
@Mr_Mustache I wouldn't say it's broken, but it's by far my least favorite of the games here. That genre's never been that fun to me though. I don't even like Tetris much.
The only thing worse than Kid Icarus on the NES is Kid Icarus with the Wii U GamePad.
And my bottom games, definitely KI or Metroid. Its no SUPER Metroid. I haven't been nuts about the Zelda II challenges yet either. Fight with Shadow Link was TERRIBLE.
Its just a flurry of stabbing! And then the fight with Ironknuckle dude..2.7 seconds for some people? Whaaat?
Almost played last night, and then decided I wanted to be happy instead. Stuff gets intense!
For the Championship mode, has anyone else here besides Gui and myself been over 1,000,000 points? I know it resets daily, and I haven't checked in a bit, but last I saw we were the only two.
Maybe we should keep a PERSONAL HIGH SCORES leaderboard up there?
EDIT- And I just don't get this POV; if Zelda II is a game that you seek to play, would it be better if a WORSE game was unlocked as a result of playing? Shouldn't you want to strive to unlock stuff? I don't know, mans.
I finally justified buying this after I got all 100 stamps in the original game. So far, four games in and it's...about the same. But with better NES games. So still pretty great.
EDIT: Except for Wario's Woods. Never played it on NES, so I'm struggling with it a bit...but after the first three levels and working to Rainbow Star them all, I think I get it. The replay option really helps when you're stumped.
So...I'm through all of Super Mario Bros. 3 (all Rainbow Stars), Dr. Mario (all Rainbow Stars), and Kirby's Adventure (all Rainbow Stars) with 3 Wario's Woods stages and 16 Remix I stages cleared with Rainbow Stars. I've got 85 stamps already (I've been playing through any game that gives double points and trying to rainbow it) and I'm still addicted. Some of the usual challenges are kinda meh, but the Remix levels are gems.
Okay, so how do the leaderboards work in Championship Mode? I can get over a million easy, but every time I quit, I get bumped from the board and have to reset my score.
I hope so. I've already got stamps 1-98 (haven't tackled Super Luigi Bros. yet) and I'd like to get them all.
The best score I've mustered is 1.08 million, and that's barely cracked the Top 20 in most cases (I think I peaked at 14 yesterday, a few spots below you). I'm just not great at Dr. Mario, at least not at planning out long chains.
