Nintendo Pocket Football Club on the 3DS

Welcome to the official discussion thread for Nintendo Pocket Football Club on the 3DS!

To start, please add this game to your log, add it to your collection (if applicable), and (when you are ready) rate it using the link above!

Calling all budding managers (in Europe)! Have you got what it takes? Nintendo Pocket Football Club puts you in charge. Train up your newly adopted squad, buy in some star talent on the transfer market and lead your team to glory! GLORY! GLORY! You'll be right there with them for every kick of the ball. No, I mean it, EV-ER-Y KICK! There is no option to skip (or even fast forward) the matches. A bold move that might just pay off.

Ahhh-dorable.

- Customise kits and player names
- Work your way up through 4 leagues
- Test your nerve in 3 cup competitions
- Try your squad against a friend with local play
- See how they fare against a stranger with street-pass
- Swap star players locally with friends

This looks like it could be a real time-sink.

You 'mericans can keep your Rusty's sleaze-ball garble. In Europe we're getting some of this sweet action ^ ^ ^

Are any of my Euro-buds planning to bite next week? Do any of you Rest Of Worlders feel indignant? Would there even be a demand for this, State-side?

Discuss.

@Super_Conzo

Did it drop yet, Super_C? If so, how are you liking it?

Its not for me, no, but I know people like Smerd (for instance) enjoy soccer. As far as other sports games / sims, have you sunk a lot of time in those? What are some of your favorites? I never really played soccer games (can't stand it), but I've dabbled with a lot of others: mostly football, plenty of baseball, and a good deal of Hockey / NASCAR.

@Mr_Mustache

It comes out this Thursday so I'll be able to comment next week. I gotta say, sports games/sims don't normally fly my kite but that's becuase I'm not interested in that world. THIS world, on the other hand, is right up my street! Managing a band of retro-sprites, boosting their stats with special training cards and watching them perform in battle! Gimme gimme! And yes, I realise it's just a Nintendo re-skin of an existing template but it seems more like a video game rather than... eh... statisticts homework (?)

But listen to me prattling on and I haven't even played it yet.

Hey you mentioned hockey, and yeah, I've always known someone with a hocky game (for Genesis & GCN) it always seemed so quick and exciting. I mean, I was just button mashing but I'm sure you could feel like the King with a bit of practice.

OK guys, settle down - stop PMing me for details about this game! Jeeze, I'll talk, I'll talk.

So, I think the reason I don't support any sports teams in real life is because I refuse to invest my passion in something that I have no control over. In Pocket Football Club, however, I AM INVESTED. I have named the team (GOALZILLA!) I have named the players (He-Man up front, Shakira on the wing, my pet cat in goal - anything goes) and I'm choosing who to train, at what... this is my team.

Suddenly I'm hunched over my 3DS, shouting orders through gritted teeth at these adorable little dudes, pumping my fist and running around the living room, elated. I don't think my wife recognises me any more.

So yeah - fun times. We're challenging for promotion to a higher league right now. Hoping to attract some hot international talent to the team. Of course, I'm trying to learn some cliche sports phrases to really complete the image. All suggestions welcome.

That screen is freakin' adorable. That's not in-game, is it?

@Guillaume

Sadly not, but still super-cute. And the 3D is terrific!

This is a 2D image of a 3D game.

You'd really dig how animated these little guys are. Makes for a gripping watch.

@Super_Conzo

Thats what I like about my NCAA project. I've named EVERYONE so its funny when so-and-so does something. It feels -- for a minute -- like its ACTUALLY that guy. Can you change the likenesses at all?

Also, if interested, I have an entire team of He-Man characters in my football game, as well as a team of your pets. Alright, one of those is a joke..
