A 6.5 is a positive rating . I enjoyed the game and that's the rating that best suits my experience of the game.

But I would like to see more people rate this game too.

Started up this game for the heck of it.... weird game, that's for sure. Fun though! I have no idea where I'm going. The levels jumped from 12 to 16 and then from 20 to 37. I maybe did things wrong. Or right?

@VofEscaflowne Alternate exits!

@nate38

Yeah I'm just going through the levels in what feels so random at times haha. I made it to a boss anyway and could not manage to beat it. Way too hard!

@VofEscaflowne Yes, the bosses in this game are really hard. They have patterns and simple behaviors to exploit, but they're not very intuitive and still pretty tough once you figure them out.

I've beaten one boss and kind of quit against some crab in a spikey-floored level. I need to play more.

Haha yeah... that's where I'm at.

@VofEscaflowne

I say go find an alternate exit and play some more levels, then go back to it.

That crab is in the first game too, and I think Shun though I'm not as certain about that. If the encounter with it in YOO is anything like the previous games, then it's an absolute pain to deal with. I recommend focusing on other level paths for now so that you don't risk burning yourself out on trying to pass it.

I've now managed to fail at stage 35 a hundred times.

I just can't figure out how to get the best springiness out of those damn trampolines, and I don't have the skills to skip them altogether. Basically I get a pretty decent jump off the first one, a so-so jump off the second, and then lose all momentum on the third, landing in the water because my lure can't reach the platform to the right.

Any tips?

@r_hjort I remember having trouble with trampolines myself. Can you skip the second one entirely? I feel like I did that for one of the trampoline stages, skipped a trampoline that at first seemed like a crucial step in the process but actually wasn't necessary.

@nate38
I'm not sure if I'm capable of skipping it by jumping on the first trampoline and then going directly to the third, 'cause I tend to go too low then, hitting the spikes on the platforms in between the trampolines. I could try that tactic for few dozen tries, though! There's a platform above the second trampoline that looks like I (or rather someone with skills) might be able to latch onto with the lure, and then maybe use that to swing past a chunk of the level, but I haven't been able to reach it so far.

PC port coming in October. I might double-dip if it has the Vita version's additions.

Also, the first two games (Umihara Kawase and Umihara Kawase Shun) will get PC releases this year as well. I'll probably get those.

@nate38
Were both the first two games on the Super Famicom or only one of them? Thinking about hunting down the old cartridges. Or cartridge.

@r_hjort
@X-pert74 can correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the first game was on SNES, and the second on PlayStation. Then they got combined into a DS port, I think?

@nate38
Oooh, that sounds familiar now that you mention it! If that's the case, maybe I should just hunt down the DS cart instead.

Holy crap, wow! I hope the games don't disappear from Steam. Either way, I'm glad I bought the Trilogy during the last Steam sale.
