Layton is a series that has been pretty popular around here, with the first game winning our DS GOTY in 2008 and most of the subsequent ones making our runner-ups for the years that they released.

However, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy just released and no one is talking about it. Are we just burnt out on it? In my case, I'm still working through Miracle Mask and to be honest although it is fun, it's not gripping me the same way the first three did. It feels like the series is running out of steam a bit, and with so many games coming at such a fast pace, it's tough to keep my excitement up.

How about you? Where are you at with the series?

Bonus question: Should Layton take a bit of a break and come back fresh? I'm thinking "yes".

@missypissy If you like brain teasers and logic puzzles and stuff you should give the first game a shot. It reminds me of playing Dr. Quandary years ago (only it's way better than Dr. Quandary).

This game is definitely on my list but I need to play Miracle Mask first. My brother-in-law let me borrow his copy so I've moved it up in the backlog. Need to finish DKCR 3D first though. That game has a lot of content and high degree of difficulty. Maybe if I need a breather then I will start Miracle Mask and get Azran Legacy toward the end of the year.

Day 1'd it! Downloading daily puzzles is a PASSION of mine. FINISHING them, on the other hand...

I just completed the main story and I have to say...

It's really too bad that so many people have Layton Fatigue (I am one of them), because the game does a few new things that make the whole package feel super refined.

The ability to choose where to go a-la Mega Man/Ducktales really helped keep the environments from getting stale, and the story is pretty dang crazy!

For people who like to learn more about Layton and his close friends, this is a great one.

I really, really loved this game and I look forward to the Ace Attorney crossover. When is that coming out?

I don't even want to play it because I don't want it to be over :(
