Autumn Heights is indeed awesome. Each island in this game is just so well-defined, colorful, and fun to explore. Even the island that involves a lot of swimming is a blast. Like TheBigG753 said, Tropical Freeze's brilliance doesn't waver. Great levels just keep on coming.
So like, what do you have to do to find all of the stages in this game? I know some have secret exits. What else? Collect the KONG pieces?
About the music... I have to admit I was a bit disappointed in the David Wise soundtrack next to his old stuff until later in the game when stuff like this hit:
Sure it is technically a remake, but it really has its own thing going on. Only one part really borrows from the old song. THE BEST PART.
I still don't think the soundtrack has the consistent awesomeness of the older games. But it has a lot of great tracks.
Hey don't get me wrong, the soundtrack grew on me a lot. It has some really emotional stuff, some epic stuff, and some straight up funky stuff like this...
That song kind of cracks me up. So cheese, but so good.
I just don't know if I find the soundtrack as consistently interesting as the soundtrack in DKC 2 and maybe even the soundtrack in DKC 1. I end up skipping a lot of tracks when listening to TPs. But that might not be a fair comparison, each of those games had about 20? songs while this one has like 60 or something? The newer DKC games have some huge soundtracks! Most every stage has its own song, that is nuts.
We can all agree that DKC 3 had the worst soundtrack of the DKC games, right? I went through the whole soundtrack the other day and the only song that really stood out to me was a remix of a Super Mario 64 song.
I might be going through these soundtracks start to finish for a reason...
No I don't tell the full plan until I have you trapped in my death trap so that you can't escape and tell anyone else and then I tell you all of the details of my plan that you could use to ruin my plan and then I leave without waiting to make sure that you actually die assuming that of course you would never be able to escape and then you escape and... yeah.
@Zero Collecting all the KONG letters in one world unlocks the temple stage for that world. Every other stage in a world is accessed by finding the alternate exit. Before you unlock the temple level, you can tell which one it is by looking at the tile underneath it; it'll have the temple tile under the dot.
Finally finished all of the stages including the bonus stages. 7-3 is one of my favorite platfomer stages ever, everything about it is awesome.
So... yeah. I think this might be the best DKC yet. Certainly up there with the best. It took awhile to grow on me, but I loved it.
Sort of tempted to go for 1 heart mode. But I remember what caught me up on that in the Wii version... the boss fights. And they are freaking LONGGGGGG in this game so it'd be annoying doing 1 heart mode on them.
Probably just call it a day and move on. Other games to play.
@Zero Yeah, that's how I felt too. It was fun to play the levels again because they really require utilising the character abilities to their fullest to get through unscathed, but the bosses were annoying enough the first time that they're just ridiculous.
