@GameDadGrant TRUE. But I can always check and see for sure if I really want to. I think the poll is probably legit though. Makes sense when I think about how many more 3DS owners than Wii U owners there are.

I haven't voted yet. Not going to until I play both games, which may not be until this poll is long buried and forgotten

I've only played Mario, and it's AWESOME, so these responses for Zelda have me really excited to get started on that one.

if I had hair I'd prolly be pulling it out.... do I get a 3ds within the next month or so to play Zelda or do I save up for the Wii U to play Mario and game with some of my friends

I gotta explain. I had a 3ds. When it had no games. I was impatient, and needed money desperately and sold it. Lttp is my favorite Zelda game....the only other Zelda game that comes close to that is Links Awakening for me. Ocarina doesn't seem to pull my strings. Maybe because I never owned a n64, my older brother wanted a playstation. I played n64 at my friends house, it s was cool and everything, but maybe thats why not many n64 games really hit me like it does with other people. Then Nintendo announces a sequel to my favorite Zelda ever. Hell, in my top five favorite games! and now everyone is saying this is the best Zelda!??

LBW though, man, has got to be the best Zelda ever originally designed for a handheld.

If this beats Link's Awakening then that would be an impressive feat.

I'm my opinion, this game buries Link's Awakening.

That's why I put in the OP, "For those of you who have played both." But we can't control if people vote regardless of that.

Depends how far out that is. I haven't played Mario. Therefore, I haven't voted in my own thread. So, I'll be resurrecting this thread with my pick as soon as I do.

Well, best since the 90's anyway... somewhere in the top 5. LTTP remains my favorite. ALBW does some things better, doesn't quite live up to the design in other areas. It's a very worthy follow-up overall and demonstrates that the Zelda series doesn't need to completely reinvent the wheel to remain my favorite gaming experience... rather, what it needs to do is filter out all of the things that recent Zelda games have been doing wrong, such as the forced hand-holding and weak overworld design.

Zelda is incredible. Like @Hinph mentions up there, it may not best A Link to the Past but it certainly puts its name in the hat for Top 3 all time (IMO). I'm about to start the final fight, I believe, and the game is unbelievable. I do feel like the game loses some of its difficulty once you get to a certain item, but before that I felt like it was really on track. Boss fights are also really fun, items are great overall, and they just let you go where you want.

@missypissy

Are you talking about the blue mail?

My advice to anybody who has yet to play this game is this: do the Swamp Dungeon last! Really not that big of a spoiler, but I don't want anybody to freak out. Seriously, though. Follow that advice and the game should be a much more enjoyable, challenging experience.

Man, you guys are really making me want this. I'm pleasantly surprised by the positive reception ALBW has gotten, because I was very non-hyped for it all this year. Excited to try it out around Christmas time now.

@Hinph

Yeah, that's it. It was the third to last dungeon I did, so it didn't really ruin the second half. But before that I had been dropped by two bosses, but after I was essentially just tanking them with no real threat to my life.
12/04/13, 03:28
@Hinph I actually did it last without even knowing which dungeon the item was in! Lucked out!
12/04/13, 03:39
I did it first... bad luck. But replaying in Hero Mode is giving me more than enough challenge now. Hah.
12/04/13, 03:42
@Hinph

I did it first too and was kind of disappointed. I think I may keep it last or avoid it altogether once I see how hard Lorule is in Hero Mode.

Why do you suggest doing it last?

@sirmastersephiroth

Item spoiler - Blue Mail reduces damage taken by 50%. Bosses can put you in a corner due to the amount of damage they can output, as well as some of the higher tier enemies. After you get the Blue Mail you start not caring about attacks.

Hard to believe I'm saying this after how fucking amazing Super Mario 3D World is, but...

...

Zelda

Just beat ALBW last night....it's the clear winner for me! And I 100%ed both games.

Console games and sequels to console games are usually amazing.

Love how every great sequel on 3DS was originally a console game and it'd sequel should have followed on the console if Nintendo do weren't asshole.

That's Luigi, Mario, and Zelda now.

Will Wii U get Link's Awakening 2? Or Pokemon X2? Nope, I don't think so.

Oh but it's ok cuz we get ports like Mutant Mudds and Nano Assault.

Edit:Fuck my phone, not fixing any typing errors.
