@GuillaumeThat makes more sense to me, for some reason. I think it has to do with cartoon physics a little bit, that I expect things to interact with each other, but not necessarily have the reactions I might expect in real life. Like, I would expect the water to splash when you land in it, but I wouldn't necessarily expect the water to cling to the character once the character is out of it, and it's reduced to a few drops just to indicate that. Similar to how I'd expect a character to get hurt from or at least acknowledge falling from high up, but not expect them to visibly break their legs or get a concussion. But sure, the more focus we place on realism in graphics, the more detail like that we might come to expect. Yet another reason why I'm not overly fond of what the tech racing is doing to us, and another thing that complicates designs for games that aren't necessarily meant to be realistic in any other way, like Mario. |
