The latest entry in Nintendo's famous adventure series, The Legend of Zelda, is just about upon us! This game takes place in the same "world" as the classic SNES game, A Link To The Past, following a new Link on a new adventure through Hyrule, and an alternate kingdom, Lorule.
Time to grab the Master Sword once again, adventure fans. The world needs a hero, will you answer the call?
With the notable exception of Zelda II. If I were thrown into some sort of purgatory plane of existence and told that the only way I'd ever get out would be to beat Zelda II, I'd be trapped forever. Too hard. The original game was also pretty challenging.
I just wish that they would provide and option at the beginning of each game for a difficulty mode that is somewhere in the middle of standard and Hero Mode. It's an easy thing to implement that would make a lot of people happy. Nintendo is weird about providing difficulty options for whatever reason.
@Hinph I always forget about Zelda 2. I actually did finish that one back when it came out though. I agree that Nintendo should consider having more difficulty choices for Zelda games.
Has anyone else been getting StreetPass battles without actually getting any sort of StreetPass notification? I've gotten 2 so far but have no clue where they came from.
I've been getting StreetPasses for the game, and I get the notifications, too. Have you been going to "Nintendo Zone" hotspots lately? That you know of?
I went yesterday and got none but of the two I got, my 3DS stayed at home all day. They were also pretty random names (they use your Mii name right?) so I thought maybe that the game still hands you a few to give you a taste of what it is.
Hm, strange. You're sure you didn't get any from the hot spots you went to? I don't know if you get those battles from the game, I thought they were StreetPass-only?
This is a mystery, I'd like to get to the bottom of it...
Well like I said, my 3DS stayed at home during that time that I got the shadow battles. The one time I went to a Nintendo Zone was yesterday which got me no StreetPass content for Zelda.
Weird! I don't suppose there would have been some kind of "delay" in getting those shadow battles to your game? But even that wouldn't make sense, since you should still have gotten a notification for it in the list on the top of the bottom screen.
Hm. In any case, I've gotta get back on this game again. I took a short break to play some more Pokémon X, but I've got a hankerin' for some more Zelda. I've only completed two dungeons so far...I gotta do some catch-up.
They must have not only broken in, but then also got to your 3DS, checked off your notifications, and then put it back right where they found it so you wouldn't notice...!
@GameDadGrant Yeah, I remember someone -- not sure if it was on these boards or elsewhere -- got a StreetPass while at home, from someone represented by a devil Mii that said something creepy, like, "I see you" or whatever. Scary stuff.

I also had two StreetPass battles without getting proper notifications.

Got all the Maimais! Two sages left. Game is still way more fun than I expected.
If I have one complaint about the game, it's that it's too easy. It's not that older games have tougher enemies or bosses, but Between Worlds Link is just so much more capable than the others! Brisk analog movement, plenty of useful items, and...okay yeah, the bosses and enemies have been toned down a bit as well. The only time I came close to dying was at those firebreathers on the first trip to Death Mountain. (I did have to use a couple fairies on the Advanced Course of the Treacherous Tower, but I also had basically no upgrades and about half of the maximum hearts at that point).
The dungeons are also a bit easier. Again, I don't think it's that other 2D Zeldas had tougher puzzle designs, it's just that Between Worlds presents them in more legible ways and with a great map displayed at all times.
Yeah, I think we do have to consider the map. I barely ever used the one in LTTP growing up. This one is always present and a hell of a lot more functional.
I also noticed that the dungeons will create shortcuts for the player from time to time.
These are good things, but they do make for easier dungeons.
