Why not sign up for a (free) account?

How much is it again? $10 per sport?

@r_hjort Wow, wasn't expecting that. This is probably something that they could change with a patch, though, so hopefully it's only temporary. Having region-locked online is probably easier to set up than worldwide online, so it may have been done to release these two games a little earlier. Unless Nintendo are worried about the language barrier, though it isn't like that doesn't exist even within regions.

There actually aren't that many Nintendo games with regional play, and most of them were the earlier ones. Endless Ocean Blue World is the last one I can think of, and that was over three years ago. It seems a bit odd to me that this one is.

Ok, what the hell is this:

I hope there's been some misunderstanding here. What's the point of the internet when we impose arbitrary borders on the communication? It's bullshit.

Well, of course. America has already proven we don't need the rest of the world to host world sports championships (ie: World Series, etc.)

Seems like more squandered potential. There is absolutely no excuse for Bowling and Golf at the bare minimum to have full online play with the rest of the world. The Agassi ad to me is funny in a wholly different way. Dude didn't know who he was playing against and had to use the phone to communicate. That sums up Nintendo online perfectly.

@Stephen

HAHAHA. True.
11/07/13, 02:42
Are we even sure that you can play against friends at all? I seem to recall that being a question. If so, it doesn't really matter to me if I can only play against strangers in the US.

@Jargon

If you can't then that makes the scenario in the ad impossible. That's not even funny any more, it is just sad.

@Stephen

I haven't seen the ad, but that's a good sign.

Sucks that we can only compete in our region but it won't affect me too much personally.

I'm enjoying playing Tennis online, but the random lag is killing me.

Even with full bar connections, the game sometimes just randomly slows down to a slide show.

@kgtennispro

Namco had one job with this game...online was it. And they screwed it up? This does not bode well for Smash Bros...

So, how should I create the list for the topic post that shows who has what game? Should I list people's names and which sport(s) they bought, or should I use a header for each sport and place people's names under them of who has it? Should I also list people's NNIDs here, or direct people to the NNID thread?

Thoughts, anyone?

@Mop it up
Sport header makes the most sense to me. It'll keep it nice and neat.

I think adding a link to the NNID thread will be good enough.

The lag issue scares me.
11/08/13, 00:33
Well, I'm glad they gave us 24 hours to try this.

Now that I'm getting up there in rank in Tennis, I'm getting more and more frustrated with the random lag spikes. They completely ruin the competitive aspect of the game since you have to resort to swinging early and praying you magically timed the lag enough so you'll hit it.
11/08/13, 01:01
Yeah, the lag sucks, but otherwise it's fun. I might get bowling for now, and wait to see if tennis gets any better.

I'm liking the Miiverse trash talking! lol. I haven't made my own messages yet but I love telling people they got SERVED. Haha. The presentation is quite nice in Wii Sports Club, I'm in love with the music

@r_hjort
Welp no buy for me then.
11/08/13, 03:08
No voice chat I assume?
11/08/13, 03:42
I got bowling. I hope we're allowed to set up bowling leagues and whatnot...

@kgtennispro

Ya, the lag is annoying but I'm hoping that its due to a few factors.

- Everyone is playing this right now since it just came out
- Everyone playing obviously can play online
- More changes to the software or server side needed

I'm hopeful! If you go to the options screen of the game you'll see a version number in the lower right corner. I'm hoping they roll out patches to make the online experience even better!

Wait, what the hell?

So I'm guessing this is sitting in my Wii U? Haven't turned it on for a few days.

Curious about this even though I know this isn't really my cup of tea at all.

@carlosrox

With the last update, there should have been a question when booting it up asking you if you wanted to turn on SpotPass to automatically download certain software. This would apply to Wii Sports Club I imagine.
