The next generation of Pokémon is finally here! All-new 3D graphics, new monsters, new evolutions, new online social features, and a brand-new adventure is all packed nicely and tightly in the latest entry in the mega-hit franchise. And what do you know, the critics seem to love it, too!

So, who all will be joining me in this latest (and apparently greatest) journey into the world of Pokémon? Will you be the very best? Like no one ever was?

Just passed the 70 hour line, so I think I should start posting in here.

@anon_mastermind

Gotta agree with you on that, the soundtrack is very good. On a more particular note, the bike theme is much more pleasant than I remember back when I played Pokémon Pearl, which is great, since you use it almost all the time.

I have 111 and just finished the Kalos Pokedex (All the new ones, not the regional ones). I am getting increasingly annoyed I have to wait 2 months to get all of my old 'mons on X, hindering Dex completeion and my own enjoyment.

@Pokefreak911

Great job! Congratulations!

So I'll try grinding for Lucky Eggs so I can use and trade them for other goodies with my friends. Does anybody here has Chansey in their Friend Safari or knows someone who does?

Anyone else seen the rumored post-Zygarde legendaries? What do you think?

http://oi43.tinypic.com/s1qonl.jpg - Types are: Rock/Fairy, Water/Fire, and Psychic/Ghost respectively

Is there anything to do in the postgame aside from legendary hunting and getting the mega ring upgrade?

I like the post Zygarde legendaries. Hoopa is probably my favorite but the typing of Volcanion is interesting...

I couldn't hold off any longer, traded one of my old video cards away yesterday for a 3DS + $20 (Was gonna try for a 3DS XL, but while they're super-nice I didn't care as much as I did for regular DS -> DS XL, will get one later!) and picked up Pokemon X today.

A little late to the party, I'm sure, but POKEMOOOOOOON. I was trying to hold myself off with finally playing through Black 2, but everywhere I went I constantly heard chatter about X and Y and it just looked too good to miss, so here I am! If anyone's still playing and isn't level 40 billion, add me!

Added. If you need anything, don't be shy and say hello!

Here is my FC: 4253-3861-6644.

Also, if you want to elaborate ideas when trading and don't want to suffer the horrors of the terrible audio of the Game Chat, we can hop in the NW Chat or whatever suits you better.

Yay Xbob joins the party.
2363-5739-3661 is mine.

What Pokemon did I say I was getting people again? I forget.

Added bothayas! Now I'll spam you both with low level O-Powers because the term "O-Powers" is ridiculously hilarious to me! Everything in the game has subliminal sexual overtones, like when I rub my Pokemon's groin... but that's probably my fault.

I've only just beat my first gym, but my team is shaping up to be pretty good so far! The starting grass Pokemon is super OP for the start of the game, able to take on several different types due to having normal, grass AND rock moves. Are all the starts this strong? My grass Pokemon just ate the bug gym for breakfast!

Also, the online in this game is soooo much better than any previous title. From the passersby/friend list thing to not having to go to the Pokemon Center to trade or really do anything but heal is amazing! I've made a couple of friends from around the world just by sending O-Powers at random! And being able to customize your trainer really helps you feel far more unique!

Also Wonder Trade seems great if you've got a bunch of spare Pokemon. Just toss 'em into the Wonder Trade and watch what pops out! I threw a Weedle in there and got a Honedge, which I didn't even know existed! It looks so cool, and having a ghost Pokemon this early has been excellent. I feel bad for the guy who got my Weedle (I don't know nor do I want to know how common Honedge is!) but I had no idea it was just going to blindly trade!

@Pokefreak911

I was getting a Ditto and a Chespin, ideally female. I'd take the other starters too since my Chespin is to allow me to keep my actual starter unevolved while allowing myself to see the evolutions in game with the new one.

@deathly_hallows

That's awesome! Where can I get one?

@DrFinkelstein

I think it was handmade by someone on Deviant Art. So it might be one of a kind.

Maybe learn to crochet?

Ugh. Haven't had very much fun battling other players. The battling in the main game is super fucking easy and doesn't teach you SHIT about advanced techniques or break down the weaknesses (aside from one gym at a time, from one NPC, telling you either the weaknesses or strengths of a single type, not both. I could totally go to a wiki but what kind of fucking game doesn't teach you the basics? What the fuck is Fairy weak against? I destroyed the Fairy gym and still have no fucking clue!) and none of the trainers, including gym leaders, seem to have more than 3 Pokemon! Except this one Fisherman, I got all excited when I saw 6 Pokeballs, like "Maybe I'll get a semidecent battle now!" and it was the dude in every game with 6 goddamn Magikarp.

The difficult is like... nonexistent compared to Black 2, which I got right before this. Black 2 was actually pretty goddamn tricky in spots and some of the gym leaders had gimmicks that totally wrecked me at first (Volt Switch... ouch!) and I became a better battler because of it. This game coddles me like I've got an IQ of a jar of mayonnaise and doesn't seem to want to throw even the slightest hint of a challenge my way.

...and then someone randomly challenges me to a battle and I have no fucking clue what to do. And by that I don't mean "Durrr do I hit it??" I mean I have no point of reference for a lot of these Pokemon. I played Red & Blue like mad, then didn't play another Pokemon game until Diamond & Pearl and I've kept relatively up-to-date since then but there are still hundreds of Pokemon I haven't seen, and they seem to be fond of doing this thing lately where a Pokemon will look like one type but in reality be a completely different type.

All this could easily be fixed if I could use my goddamn Pokedex in battle, like in the anime, so I'd at least have a friggin' chance of getting a good hit in! My best battle to date was super close (I still lost, but it was my fault! Not my ignorance's fault!) because I recognized each and every Pokemon and their type by eye! They can't possibly expect the average player to know all this shit by heart? My worst fight was against this guy using a Noivere or whatever, the giant bat thing, I had no fucking clue what type it was (Besides Flying, I assume) and it used like 4 different elements. I couldn't look up what it was called because its name was in fucking Japanese! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FIGHT THAT?!

Ugh! And speaking of which, the worst is when I use a STAB attack with 90-120 power against an enemy that is weak against that type (In a battle where all are set to 50.) and it hits them for less than 1/5th of their HP bar, then they use a non-STAB attack that I'm weak against and I get one shot on my big tank-like Pokemon? I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

I'd be having so much more fun battling online if the game did ANYTHING AT ALL to help alleviate my ignorance, to try to guide me in the right direction. I haven't beaten a single person! And my Pokemon are all above level 50 naturally and know moves that I thought were pretty decent because I one-shot every-fucking-thing-in-the-universe offline, but I guess all my abilities suck and all my Pokemon suck and my lack of knowledge about 718 goddamn Pokemon makes me suck and ARRRRGH.

The worst possible feeling for a gamer in a competitive match is to lose and have no idea whatsoever what went wrong or how they could've done it better. I should be learning from every loss, not becoming hugely confused by it every time.

Turn Exp Share off and the game gets a lot harder. There is also the fact that almost everyone online EV trains to make themselves stronger in specific stats. Noivern, the one you faced is Dragon/Flying and is it is Dragon type, it has access to a wide movepool. Noivern also has base stats of 97 in SpAtk and 123 in Spd. By adding max EVs to that (252) you get 63 stat ups in both of those stats. This is probably why it's Non STAB boosted Super Effective move did a bunch of damage. Online, while greatly improved since the last games, is still the most frustrating thing to play because the game still doesn't introduce things like EVs well enough.
