Demo is up in Europe as well!

I finished playing it just now, and it was pretty fun! I've never played an Ace Attorney game before, but I think this could be up my alley. Would I benefit a lot from playing the older games first, you think?

Hm, probably. Some of the characters in DD are returning from earlier games in the series. If you enjoyed the gameplay of this demo, you'll love the AA games' gameplay, I'm sure. The first three games in particular tell some amazing stories and have excellent characters, so I'd highly recommend all three of them. At this point, the best/cheapest option might be the WiiWare versions.

Are there any spoilers in the demo for those who haven't played Apollo Justice and Miles Edgeworth?

Thanks! I'll keep an eye out for second hand cartridges to begin with, because hoarding, but I'll consider the WiiWare versions too.

Outside of the fact that you play as Defense Attorney Phoenix Wright, no.

Thanks to the Wii U update you could play the WiiWare versions off-TV with a wiimote. Should be less jaggy and stuff on the small screen too.

True, but it sounds a bit like a hassle just using the Gamepad as TV, and especially since my stand isn't located in a good spot. Besides, I keep all my old WiiWare stuff on my Wii still.

What the...? Dual Destinies is rated M for mature?

The other games were T for Teen at best, no? What are they doing in this new game that warrants the new rating, I wonder?

M-rating and digital only. Weird.

The other games did have some pretty violent situations, but off-screen, and you didn't see so much that it would get the M-rating.

This reminds me...

We're going to need a bigger SD card.

I hear it's nothing major, mainly there's a bit more blood at some of the crime scenes and some of the subject matter is slightly darker than before. From people who've played it, it sounds like a soft M (like Persona 4 or Shattered Memories).

I'm tempted to replay AA 1 through 4 as a refresher.

@Shadowlink
I keep thinking about doing that to, those games are so fun.

This is actually the best thing Capcom could do for themselves to insure maximum sales, now that I think about it. There were probably thousands of lost sales due to the used market, since these games tend to have low replay value. Buy 'em, play 'em, sell them back.

Now, Phoenix Wright fans will do the first two options, and they will not get the third option. I know I'm going to download it. Re-selling is out of the playbook now, like tackling in the NFL (that's short for National Flag League at this point, isn't it?).

Too bad Capcom couldn't put this out at a cool $20. But maybe there will be enough content in here to really warrant the $30 price tag. (it...it *is* $30, no?)
10/02/13, 23:49
@GameDadGrant Yes, it's $30. I'm sure it'll be worth that much.

@Deerock69

Mmmmaybe. But most fans of the series really like them, enough to keep them in their collections. I find that they're still pretty replayable, since while you do remember the killers of the cases, you don't remember most of the smaller contradictions that make up the bulk of the gameplay.

@nate38

I guess. I was just kinda hoping Capcom could cut us a break since they'll be saving money on manufacturing, shipping and retail costs. Oh well, no biggie.

@GameDadGrant

To be fair, $10 off is more than Nintendo EVER gave us for their digital games, and that didn't stop people from buying them.
10/03/13, 17:33
Yeah, $10 off the average cost of a 3DS title is a break.
10/03/13, 17:35
@TriforceBun

I dunno. Crosswords Plus and Brain Age: Concentration Training were both $30.
