Is anyone excited? It'll be a look at games being released by the end of the year, so I expect some footage of Link Between Worlds, the 3D Mario game, and maybe even a moment on Wind Waker HD since the physical copy is not out yet.
Honestly, I'm more interested in 3D World than I would be in a Galaxy 3. Like @Secret_Tunnel said, it looks like Galaxy with a fixed camera angle, and without that fixed camera angle, we wouldn't be getting multiplayer! And as much as I loved Galaxy for its magical cosmic splendor, we already got two of those.
I'm probably the biggest critic of Super Mario 3D Land around here, and I'd love for Nintendo to bring back the original Platformer-Adventure brand of 3D Mario. But 3D World at least looks like an enormous improvement over 3D Land, and it clearly has the spirit of the Galaxy games if not their grandeur.
3d World looks friggen amazing, I really don't want another Galaxy 3. I didn't even finish 2, the best part of both games was the music for me, and that seems to be back in 3DW
@nate38, the camera angle isn't actually fixed. You can snap it out of that isometric-style view and have an adjustable one instead.
@Griptor, I know! How did it happen - all these platformers coming at once. It is as if they geunuinely don't plan their slate of games they just have a bunch of independant teams doing whatever they think is best.
I hope Ubi continues to support the Wii U. I accept there are some games that are a better fit on other systems. I can't connect at all to Assassin's Creed, however many AAAAs it is, while Playstation and Xbox gamers seem to eat it up.
But SC, Watchdogs, Rayman and a lot of other titles are a good fit for Nintendo console owners looking for some inventive variety.
Mario 3D World does look awesome. I think Nintendo made a big mistake showing the stuff that looked practically identical to 3D Land first. I think it gave a lot of people a bad and misleading first impression.
@Infinitywave I agree about Ubisoft. I also have trouble getting into AC despite my love of the PoP series, but I wouldn't want to see them ditch Nintendo.
But better than the other way around eh? Showing awesome stuff, only to show 3D Land-esque stuff later? I think it's better to go this way. Build the momentum. 3D Land was incredible so even showing more of the same is still pretty awesome. Then wowing later... good deal.
It's weird that the some of the same people who say SM3DW is old hat want Galaxy 3, when we've already seen more of that series and obviously has been on consoles, unlike 3D Land. I guess it comes down to the "epicness" stuff that I consider bullshit.
I don't want Galaxy 3, I want something equally as ambitious and fresh and inspiring on Wii U as the first Galaxy was when it hit Wii. In fact I really don't want a sequel of any kind, Wii U has sequels out the wazoo but very few new experiences. And personally I don't care about multiplayer in a Mario platformer, unless it's online, and even then not really, not every game needs to have multiplayer, and if it's anywhere near as chaotic as NSMB I just don't find it appealing. Different strokes!
I like epicness too. Legitimate epicness. But in a Mario game, I don't see what it could be else than something purely superficial. The setting and the music in Galaxy, I suppose. Those are nice, but not really my pressing concern.
epicness for me at least would be grander story lines, bowser turning Luigi against him, kinda like the stuff the RPG games did....maybe a 3d subcon hehe
Super Mario RPG 2 with online co-op would make me fall over
it kinda sucks that DK has been delayed...and No "X" sequel date yet.... Playing Wii games using the gamepad as your screen is a good idea.. would be better if you could use the actual pad..but this is way better then no option at all.
I wish Nintendo would add a friend leaderboard option for Pikmin 3 missions. All that talk of a revamped system and they just added a tag for the highest score is all. DLC is very welcome, though.
@Jargon Setting and music are like two of my favorite things in games though. Especially music.
Still, I don't see that big of a difference between Galaxy and 3D World. I mean, in epicness and such. Though I definitely loved the gravity stuff of Galaxy, and I feel its absence in every new Mario game that doesn't have it.
Ok, I must admit that after seeing this new Mario 3D World Trailer, I am really, really excited to get my hands on the game. The E3 trailer was alright and I was a little bummed.
Wow! After watching this trailer, I'll be buying this day one.
