8.5/10 from one rating

Welcome to the official discussion thread for Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams on the Wii U!

To start, please add this game to your log, add it to your collection (if applicable), and (when you are ready) rate it using the link above!

This game came out last week in Europe and is coming out tomorrow in North America. It's been available on PC and then the 360 and PS3 for a while now, but I haven't seen much talk about it on NW. By all accounts, it's quite good! I'm set to review it for NWR, but I can only start it tonight, which ain't ideal...

Anyone looking to pick this up this week in addition to/instead of Rayman?

Why not sign up for a (free) account?

So what's the reward for collecting all the gems, not dying so many times, etc. I'm still early on in the game, but I enjoy collecting the gems so I will try to get them, but don't really feel like going back to find the ones I missed. Any reason I should bother?

I'm enjoying this game (on Steam). I'm glad I checked this thread out first because it convinced me to play just a couple of levels a day, which helps make up for the levels admittedly being too long at times. I'm up to the last level of the second world and so far nothing has been too frustratingly hard and I really just viscerally like the main mechanics of the game so it's been a pleasure. Hopefully that will continue.

Beat the game! Really loved some of the last few levels. Else than a few frustrating things here and there, they really hit the sweet spot of challenge for me. Nothing like getting through a tricky platforming sequence.

Sadly, as much as I liked those levels, I hated the end boss (the actual boss fight part at least). It was very much of the Donkey Kong Country Returns school, where you were required to survive/wait through long periods of boss invincibility in order to finally get a hit in. And sometimes things really just seemed unfair.

But I pushed through and beat it and I'm happy overall with the game. Not going to go back and try harder difficulties or getting better scores, but I don't usually do that in even my favorite games.

So yea, if you like tough platformers give this game a shot, on Steam, Wii U (might want to wait for a sale), or whatever else.

This was on sale last week for PlayStation. I was kind of tempted, but, MAN, do I hate the aesthetic. And the endless levels on the demo kind of wore on me.
