How many people here are taking advantage of the Fire Emblem Awakening + Shin Megami Tensei IV = $30 credit for the 3DS or Wii U?

I think it's a fantastic idea and I think this will get people (like me) who didn't initially plan on picking the game up to do so in order to take advantage of the offer. The only Shin Megami game I played before was Devil Survivor cause I love turn based games.

I'm about an hour in, the game kicked my ass, I lowered the difficulty (12 play coins to revive myself! ouch!). I'm really enjoying it so far.

I opted to pick up a physical copy because the packaging looked really slick.

The box art for the...uh, sequel? Director's Cut? Update version? Whatever, looks sweet.

It's going to be at Atlus' booth at E3 this year, which will be nice. Anyone looking to check this one out?

@GameDadGrant I still haven't played the first but my brother is super duper anticipating this. I'm still a tad bit confused... is it a brand new game?

@Zero It was explained to me that Apocalypse is a new story with different progression and some gameplay changes / improvements, but set in the same world with a lot of the same assets and such. So it's sort of a new game, except sorta not. Kinda like Zelda Link Between Worlds, except not so much updated graphics.

Link Between Worlds was pretty much a completely new game though, didn't really reuse assets?! Even the Hyrule we knew was rebuilt from scratch.

Maybe it is more like uh... Japan Super Mario Bros. 2?

@Zero That's what I meant by "except not so much updated graphics." It didn't re-use graphics, just had the same world and a lot of the same mechanics. I don't think it's the best example, just a game I know that you (and others) have played.

Whatever the case I still need to play SMT IV. Brother lent his copy to a friend, waiting for him to get it back so I can play it.

Yeah, the bottom line is that Apocalypse is not a "director's cut" and I've been told by a fan of the series that I should play regular SMT IV first.

I finished it. It was pretty great. Just the right length for a meaty but not overbearing RPG too (took around 40 hours.)

I did kind of not like being locked into my alignment at the end but I guess that means I should have thought harder about my choices?

This is... someone put a lot of work into this for some reason.
