The wait is nearly over. The game is being detailed left and right by the media,… the amiibo have been announced,… and the Nintendo Switch is imminent… The Legend of Zelda series has been a special one for Nintendo fans since it began and the next chapter starts on March 3rd, 2017.
A hero's tale begins anew. Open your eyes and see what is true.
Fun Facts: Vast open world where you could go find the end of the game within 15 minutes… but you won't survive it. Weapons have stats and durability. Climb pretty much anything you want. Eat and cook to regain health. Full voice-acting for all except Link
Lets use this thread to discuss the game on the Nintendo Switch. To help hold the tide of the wait, here are some beautiful screenshots and links for your perusal.
I've never beaten this game, but I'm going to give it the ol' college try now. I started it on Wii U, got off the Great Plateau and got to the first town, IIRC. I could pick up from there, buuuuuuuuut...nuts to that. I'm starting over fresh on Switch.
Man, I forgot how goofy this game starts off like. Link running around, dressed like a hobo and beating off Bokoblins with sticks he randomly finds on the ground....haha what is this nonsense? They could have at least left him a proper sword and shield and his Hylian armor in the Shrine of Resurrection, right? C'mon.
Anyway, wish me luck. Gotta finish this game off before Tears of the Kingdom drops in May!
By the way, this game is much more difficult than I remember. I've gotten the "Game Over" screen several times now. I can't remember the last time I played a Zelda game and seen that screen. It's kind of refreshing having a real challenge again.
They couldn't do that. It was important that Gannon not find the shrine while Link still slept, and a simple metal detector would have done the trick if they had left Link proper gear. He had to be just in his underwear, for story reasons.
Also for Tears of the Kingdom the reason he starts without all the gear from BotW is because while he was on the way back to the castle a korok jumped him and stole his stuff. Hyrule is still a dangerous place. So don't go asking about THAT when the game releases next year.
Man this game just assumes you're gonna spend a bunch of hours playing sometimes. It takes a long while to even get to the next tower, and then actually *climbing* it once you get there? Ugh, that's a trial of patience.
Though I'll admit I do like how often the game autosaves and how I can manually save & quit at any time. Makes it work really well as a portable title. The whole "pick up and play then set down again" mentality works well here. I can just randomly grab my Switch, complete a Shrine, then save and put it to sleep mode for play later on. It's great.
Is it really spoilers if it's just an excuse for something we all knew was going to happen
It's like trying to explain in metroid prime, why samus can get shot with lazers and get run over by a rock monster, yet bumping into and elevator wall made her lose everything.
Planner 1: "So boys, how are we going to explain why samus has no gear in this new game?" Planner 2: *spills hot coffee onto his lap* Planner 1: "Excellent. Get right to it."
This game is really weird. Was wandering around to my next objective, and some huge snake-dragon thing was just flying around. Minding his own business. Like...what? Do I have to fight that thing later? Or is that just...a thing?
Also saw what I think is a UFO? Some floating ship of some kind off in the distance. What is this game even doing?
@GameDadGrant I think they did leave Link some gear, but over the years it was stolen by treasure hunters or something. Perhaps it was those Moblins, they're always causing trouble...!
Wow, didn't realize how many Shrines there are in this game. And some are aggressively difficult to enter! I appreciate the longer ones...most of the Shrines I've come across have like, one or two puzzles and then you're done. But a more recent one had several rooms and different challenges, so I was pleasantly surprised by that.
Also, super glad this is on Switch. I'm going out of town for a couple of days, and very happy to be able to (easily) play this away from home. Even en route to my destination! Portable gaming FTW!
Speaking of moblins, if you secretly stare at one for a minute it eats as rock. Just picks up a rock and starts munching. I hear having a bad diet can make you cranky
Well, I had a metal shield. And it started glowing before the bolt actually landed on Link. One-shotted him dead. Good thing this game auto-saves so often…!
Hoo-rah, just did one of the Divine Beast thingies. The elephant one. The puzzles in that were pretty tricky, but the boss fight was surprisingly easy. On to the next!
Yah. You can see which weapons/other stuff will get you hit by lightning whenever there is a storm by checking your equiptment menu.
Thats the first beast i beat too. You think the Elephant boss was easy, wait'll you get to the big bird one . The big electric camel had the hardest boss.
