It just surpassed the previous champ, Metroid Prime. Congrats!

Congrats to MercurySteam and Dread! It's not my favorite Metroid by any means, but it was still a great time and I hope this helps the series get a little more of a push moving forward.

Wish people found 3d Metroid as accessible but this can only be good for Prime 4.

(I have Dread, still haven't booted it up so I can't judge it myself)

Great game! I have the odd quibble, but my overall impression is very strong. Because of the solid finish!

@Infinitywave

I bought it launch day and have played it about an hour per month. Going to beat it sometime this year!

Think I’m going through one of those phases in life where I’m not too crazy about video games but it should come back eventually.

With how many Switch units there are out there (and the holiday release date the game had) I suppose this was kind of inevitable.

Now if only Metroid can start selling Super Mario and Legend of Zelda numbers!

Hope this bodes well for the future of the series.

With how crazy Switch has been, I'm not surprised. I haven't played it yet meself though, and I'm not sure when I may get around to it as I wanted to play Samus Returns first.

Maybe with the success of Dread we'll get a Samus Returns port. That would be great since it's the only Metroid game I've never played and I don't see myself busting out the old 3DS (or New 3DS actually) anytime soon.

If you enjoyed Dread, you'll probably enjoy Samus Returns! I played through it for the first time just before Dread, and it was like playing one huge game.

The 3D effect actually felt fresh again, too! But the controls were crippling...

Dread is a good game but the levels require having to go through the same rooms multiple times.

If the areas were planned out more like Fusion it would be golden.
Chronologically i think its supposed to be the sequel to fusion but it doesn't give off the same tension that Fusion had.

Although Fusion bosses were too easy.

It wasn't that hard to find places to crouch where they couldn't hit you

Fusion was awesome. Loved that color palette. And just the comic book styling, overall.

I really like the overall mood of the game. It very well instilled the fear of helplessness and the fear of the unknown.

I honestly think it had the best color, graphics, and areas of any side-scroller metroid.

And Fusion also has fantastic pacing. It's like the video game equivalent of a page-turner.

one thing that really hit me when i played it was the door design. The doors look so much better then in other games.
