If it was Hyrule Warriors I'd be very tempted to bite! Fire Emblem Warriors was so bad by comparison. Confusing since it came out after HW (and it isn't even bias, I like the FE series more!). One was packed to the gills with content, the other was over in like a few hours. It felt phoned-in.

I looked at footage of it and it doesn't look great. I'd say there are worse ways to spend $10...but you could definitely stretch that $10 into something more modern and on sale. I think Capcom just had (or has) Okami on sale for $10 or something like that.
Yeah Capcom's doing a summer sale that lasts until the 30th. Even 3DS has discounts, with some nice deals on the Ace Attorney series there in particular. I only bought the two original Mega Man Legacy Collections, but I was tempted by a few other deals.

That's funny--I love the Zelda series more but I think I preferred Fire Emblem Warriors! Hyrule Warriors has a huge amount of content, but it's also pretty "grindy" when you get down to it. FEW still has plenty of stuff to do, especially when you take the DLC into consideration (I think I played it for 80 hours and am nowhere near done with original content). It also has a lot more character-driven stuff with the Supports, and I like the core gameplay better (with switching characters and ordering them to go places to keep things under control).

Never played the 3DS versions of either though.

That' matches up with what I've hear about this game. I'm not gonna be too bummed about spending $10 on a lousy game, but the time investment is important! There are a lot of games vying for my attention.

I do have a big soft spot for the Shdaow Dragon cast, though. But I could probably get away with just looking up gameplay footage and save myself the time/money.

Really? Weird! I maybe missed something? We beat the game and felt like it was pretty much over with really, really quickly when we borrowed it from the library. Meanwhile Hyrule Warriors had that epic NES Zelda-style map that we barely got halfway through before the game was due back.

Maybe there was some mode of FEW which didn't unlock for us?

I liked HW a lot, but it did lose me on how repetitive it got. I suppose that's the nature of all these Muso games. I put a good amount of time into it, but I tap out eventually and really have no interest in doing hundreds of these missions.

I don't particularly care for Fire Emblem but I like the Zelda series, so I've always been curious about Hyrule Warriors but never found a deal on it, not even the Wii U version. From how people are always saying this kind of game is so repetitive, I wasn't planning on getting Fire Emblem Warriors and just waiting to see if I ever find a good deal on Hyrule Warriors. However, I had a $10 certificate I had forgotten about which was soon to expire, so I decided to get FEW anyway since I have nothing else on which to use the cert. I figure that the game will probably at least hold this much in value, so selling is always an option if I never play it / don't care for it.

I also grabbed the 3DS version as well, despite not having a NEW 3DS model. I'll keep this sealed and see if its value goes up in the aftermarket. Hmm, why are games starting to feel more like stocks...

@Mop it up

I’ll buy it from you for 8 dollars!

Yeah, the Adventure mode was chock full of content, although it began to wear on me a bit after I cleared the first map. FEW does something similar with multiple maps (you choose a character to battle on a FE-style map, I think you go for ranks and stuff, etc), but I can't remember if they were in the base game or not...hm...

@TriforceBun

For what it's worth, Hyrule Warriors on Switch felt a lot less repetitive. I didn't have much problem redoing the original adventure map or digging in to a bunch of the new maps. There are just so many characters and costumes, that I found myself still having fun with it even after pouring a ton of time into OG Hyrule Warriors. The new themed map gimmicks and reference-filled costumes certainly helped with that as well.

@Mop it up

The deal has changed. 7 dollars.

Your move.

@Hero_Of_Hyrule

I felt that as well. FEW felt as repetitive as normal games of that style, but HW felt a lot less overall. Sure, still repetitive (that's this genre) but less so. To me, anyway!

@Hero_Of_Hyrule

Oh that might be true, I played it on the Wii U and it didn't have some of the features the 3DS one had (like switching characters mid-mission, which would've helped speed things along).

At the end of the day, theming aside, I enjoyed the moment-to-moment gameplay of Fire Emblem Warriors more. It's smoother, with some QoL updates which I can't recall right now.

But a musou is a musou. They always kind of feel like they're wasting my time. Y'know, like an RPG!

I've been trying to work through all of the demos clogging up my Switch library. Labyrinth of Refrain was agonizing. So many words...

Umihara Kawase Bazooka is really freakin' weird, too. As a lifelong Bionic Commando fan, I think that it's time to admit that this series is not for me. I've tried to get into it so many times, but the feel of the 'grappling hook' has just never clicked.

@Hero_Of_Hyrule What a ripoff! I wouldn't do it for more than $5!

Any idea how long the Amazon sale is up for?
11/14/20, 01:00
If anyone wants physical, the games listed above will be $30 at Walmart on Black Friday. Amazon sometimes matches the deals of other stores, so that may happen here also.
11/15/20, 23:55
I snagged Fire Emblem from Best Buy. I had some credit card reward cash so I grabbed it for $26.

Best Buy Black Friday deals

A lot of the Switch stuff is more or less the same from the Amazon stuff above, but some good PS4 / Xbox deals as well.

I'm looking hard at Resident Evil 3 and Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order but I don't really need new games I need to play the ones that I have!
