In all seriousness... Bunny Day is kind of a bust, right? Like, almost no one is actually enjoying this Bunny Day stuff are they?
I think one reason is just that it hit too soon after the game hit. If it was a few months in, and most people had already done most of what they planned to, sure, come back and mess around with some new stuff. If it doesn't grab you, no big deal.
But there are a few other things about it that I think don't quite work that Nintendo should probably address for future events:
A. It's too long... right? Like, this is going on for days and days and days? I suppose they want to make sure that people don't miss the events, but I dunno. Could be a bit shorter. B. It gets in the way of how people want to play. Fishing, chopping wood, etc. And you come up with eggs instead. Annoying! C. The rewards are... not that great? I'm TRYING to be open-minded about it but I'm getting a ton of crafting projects for stuff that looks like gaudy junk.
With that said, I do feel bad for whoever it was on the team that put all of this energy into creating Bunny Day and the tons of objects related to it that no one really seems to want. Imagine putting a bunch of work into something and getting... this reaction. |

@TheBigG753 Looking awesome! As for the Bunny Day stuff, I'm kinda pro-Bunny Day. My daughter gets excited (egg-cited?) every time we shoot down an egg or pull one out of the ocean. I can't be mad at something that makes her happy like that. This is a damned Nintendo game and if it makes a 5 year old happy, then it's done its job. So the rewards are kinda tacky? So what! It's Animal Crossing. That Godzilla statue is still gonna be there to collect after Bunny Day is long gone. There's nothing I want that I won't be able to get later. I also want to say, not so much here at Negative World, but there were a ton of people out there who were already acting like they wanted to be Animal Crossing Influencers or something. Like 3 days after release I saw a number of posts on Reddit bragging about how they optimized getting money from tarantulas or time-traveling or whatever to be the first to do some amazing thing on the island. I have a friend at work who does streaming who told me, "Animal Crossing is a game where, if you lose a day, that matters. You're gonna be behind if you don't meet your objectives for that day". Objectives? Get out of here! It's Animal Crossing. It's the least objective based game in history. These are the people who seem most frustrated by Bunny Day. For goodness sake, slow your ass down. This is not some competitive "sea bass" measuring contest. Again, not necessarily directed at you guys. But I do think we, of all people, should have the appropriate perspective on this kind of thing. |
