I'm the same way, except for different reasons! I do two masses before noon on Sundays! I've had to bring my 3DS to the church parking lot and buy turnips between rehearsals in the past.

Turnips for 132 this afternoon. Too low to warrant opening the gates, I assume? We're all looking to make the big bucks, not just some extra change.

I'll open if anyone's desperate, but it's still early in the week for that.

These eggs are a real issue for me. Not a fan.
04/02/20, 06:34
I think the egg stuff is fun but they're kinda filling up my inventory.

Guys, I really miss NOA's 2000s (decade) localization. So much of their dialogue nowadays feels overtly trendy, with that modern sense of detached irony. It's a relatively low percentage of the dialogue considering how much is stuffed into the game, but it still is jarring to me every time someone says some nonsense like "adorbs" or "squee." I've spoken at length about this before so I won't harp on it for too long, but I've had problems with a fair amount of their recent efforts compared to games like the original AC, Thousand-Year Door, and Kid Icarus Uprising.

@TriforceBun

No. Not fun. Bunny Day is ruining my life. It's basically the Covid-19 of Animal Crossing.

I want that creepbag rabbit and his eggs out of my village. Where is Carole Baskin when you need her?

How am I supposed to pay my bills when the waters have been polluted with all of these eggs? They're killing the fish! How can I be excited when I hear a balloon? Does anybody actually want to craft any of this tacky garbage?

I realize I'm a total AC noob, but *mind blown* at being able to dig up fully grown trees after eating fruit. Wish I'd figured that out sooner, the tree problems plaguing my maze wouldn't have been such a big deal. Alas, now I know how to proceed!

@Hinph

I kinda agree. "Oooh, big fish shadow in the water!"...egg. "Need to bash this rock to get stones."...eggs. "Hey, is that a fossil?"...egg....

It's not eggcelent.
04/02/20, 15:37
@Hinph Last night I was only a few miles away from getting to order something I wanted to order so even though it was late and I was tired I was like well, I'll just check my Nook phone and see where I can get some quick miles. Oh, catch 3 fish... I can do that right away!

NOPE. KEPT GETTING FREAKING EGGS. I swear I must have gotten like 8 eggs before I got 3 fish. Or maybe it was only 5 or 6, but it felt like a lot.

@TheBigG753 I feel like that thing you spoilered is new to the series? Or at least, wasn't in the first game or two? I sure didn't know that was possible! That will help me in one of my current projects, which is spacing things out a bit more and creating a nice grove near my house for fruit trees.

I have to admit, I do find it kind of strange to see the exact same character on everyone's island, such as Tom Nook, Mabel, Isabelle, etc. I think I may finally be understanding this "ludonarrative dissonance" thing...

@TriforceBun I actually think that fits better in this game than some of the other ones in which it's appeared, but I can't blame ya.

@TheBigG753 To be fair, that is a feature new to Horizons.

@Mop it up Maybe they have a private, high speed jet, and when they hear where you are going to visit, they cruise over there quickly.

Either that or this is a dystopia future and they're all clones. Which would actually explain why the walls in my room are apparently floor to ceiling video screens, which is straight out of Fahrenheit 451??!!?!

@Mop it up

Ha, neat! Well, I wouldn't have known either way.

The tree planting system is really finicky and has made my maze construction take longer than it probably should have. I found it a bit annoying that trees will only grow in certain spots and only if they're spaced far enough apart, but they let you plant saplings on every square on the map. Only when you are planting trees that have already started growing does it complain about placement (but it still lets you plant it in a spot that is "plantable" but where it won't grow anymore) I guess it's "tough love" on the part of the game for you to learn this on your own, but...I dunno. It's weird. I wish it just complained when planting saplings, that, "Hey, this ain't gonna ever grow in this spot, dummy!"

At least I now know how to circumvent this via the trick I mentioned in my prior post, but it would have been a lot more helpful 3 or 4 days ago!

I'll be getting this pretty soon! Any day now.

My first AC! I am excited to give this a try but I honestly don't expect to spend TOO much time with it. But we'll see how it goes, I'm sure I'll enjoy it.
04/02/20, 20:30
@TriforceBun

I kind of agree with you about the dialogue. I personally think it's still walking the line between funny and ugh pretty well. Like Mop it up says, it feels appropriate for Animal Crossing, and my main fear is that it'll infect some other game where it doesn't belong. Which hasn't really happened, other than the doge thing in that TriForce Heroes, and no one in their right mind even played that anyway! Breath of the Wild and Smash Ultimate remained untouched by it. And it felt perfect in Paper Mario: Color Splash!

I haven't seen anyone say "squee" yet though, that might change my mind...

...I saw someone say on Twitter that they miss the villagers being assholes to you like they were in the Gamecube game, haha. And apparently that was a result of just a couple of Treehouse localizers and wasn't very true to the original Japanese version!
04/02/20, 20:31
@Secret_Tunnel Don't be a hater, Tri Force Heroes is an awesome game.
04/02/20, 20:35
@carlosrox

Ha! That's what I thought would happen with me as well, but this game has become a borderline obsession for me. I haven't touched Doom Eternal in over a week, and that game is really good!

"I'll play Animal Crossing one hour a day", he said.

@Secret_Tunnel One of my villagers went on a weird rant about pineapple on pizzas and how everyone says they don't like it just to fit in but no one really cares, and then started mentioning how it's the same thing with the word "moist", at which point I was like... WHAT AM I EVEN PLAYING RIGHT NOW?! Maybe it's just my circle but when people start talking about how much they dislike the word moist, there is usually a lot of sexual connotation involved?!

But for the most part the dialog seems fine to me.

@TheBigG753 This is the first AC I have been addicted to since the original. Sure, being the game that hit right when I was sent home from work and not legally allowed to leave out building much is probably a huge part of it, but... it's so good! I've been spending a ton of time on every little part of my town! I'm basically trying to create a town where every single place you go you see something that makes you think hmm, that's neat / interesting / etc.

(Tough to know how much I am actually playing though since I leave my town open a lot when I'm not playing, so I'm already nearing 200 hours on the game clock, lol.)

@TheBigG753

I'm sure I'll like it but I doubt I'll get obsessed with it or anything.
04/02/20, 21:09
@Zero

That actually sounds like kind of a neat bit of dialogue to me! The discomfort with the word "moist" has always come across to me as a bandwagon-y meme-like thing so I would probably enjoy that chatter.

Most of the time, my villagers' dialogue is a little too brief for my tastes. I think Tom Nook, Mabel and Isabelle are still quite endearing though. Yes, yes! I'm less a fan of the Peppy neighbor, and the visiting bug and fish guys (Flick and C.J., I believe). I appreciate having some new types of characters in this game, but the social media, hit-starved streamer archetype isn't my favorite.

Same, that's been my approach as well. Maybe half of my island has some sort of theme to it at this point.

I can't wait until I actually start caring about what the inside of my house looks like (because I've barely put any time into it!)
04/02/20, 23:10
The inside of my house isn't that cool yet BUT... I have some epic ass "wallpaper".

(I put wallpaper in quotes because mine is highly animated so it has to just be floor to ceiling screens, right!?)
04/02/20, 23:28
LOL.

I hope the bunny wanders over to the murder section of my land, could get some good pictures there!!!
