So there's gonna be a free multiplayer update for Switch? What form will the multiplayer take? My ten seconds of Googling turn up nothing!

@Secret_Tunnel Yeah they really haven't talked about it in detail from what I've seen...there's just a brief blurb on the website about it that doesn't really explain anything:

Marble It Up: Mayhem! said:
Embrace the intuitive and chaotic multiplayer modes. Hunt gems, tag your friends, and prove your marble mettle online. Blast is back! Gem Hunt returns! Steal the Crown debuts!

And the only video online I can find is this, which I'm guessing is the Gem Hunt mode:

They did mention in a long pre-release preview video that they're working on a mode inspired by Battle Royale games, but from quick search in the Discord it looks like that's not ready yet.

As for the singleplayer pack, another Youtube video I found looks like the Mayhem game on Apple Arcade has five chapters, and the levels in the first chapter look like about 70% of them are new. So that's probably a pretty hefty level pack for the "base" game on Switch and Steam.

No word on timing yet either, but they're doing some multiplayer beta weekends on Steam starting this weekend, so I'm thinking maybe we'll see the update on Switch in the first few months of 2020?

Fun challenge this week! Gotta love that early period when getting on the leaderboards is actually conceivable...

Guys! Marble it Up! Man this game is great, every time I go back to it there's new stuff. I guess nate38's been talking about it all along, I should have listened! That fast-forward challenge looks hilarious, I had no idea they modulated the ball size and game physics for the weekly challenges!

Played a little bit of Chapter 6. The first level was madness, but very fair madness. Perfect level of challenge. And then the second level being a big sandbox was a nice break afterwards. Good difficulty curve!

I also finally got the trophy in that first gravity wall tutorial level, and oh man, that solution was clever. Executing the maneuver you need to make being harder than figuring out the trick isn't my favorite thing in the world, but I still kept throwing myself at it over and over because of how smart it was. So rewarding. Are any of the other secrets in this game as cool as that one? If so, wow, there's more to this game than meets the eye.

What's the status on Marble Royale!?

@Secret_Tunnel Yep, all the weekly challenges have modified physics, I'm pretty sure.

And yeah, that first gravity wall tutorial stage secret's a nifty one. Looking at the Twitter video I posted, it took me 30 minutes to grab it, and I'm pretty sure that wasn't even my first attempt, haha. There are definitely other collectables put in smart spots, so keep an eye out.

As for upcoming content, I'm afraid they haven't said much..."Marble Royale" has only been mentioned in passing a few times since it was teased almost two years ago. And the Marble It Up: Mayhem content (new levels and multiplayer) is still exclusive to Apple's game service, though they have been doing multiplayer beta weekends on Steam since December or so. Part of me wishes I bought it on PC, where there's a level editor and sharing, and multiplayer coming soon supposedly (what with beta weekends happening frequently), and the PC version probably doesn't stutter quite as much as it does on Switch, too.

But yeah, game's still great. It's my #2 most played game on Switch besides Smash, with over 50 hours sunk into it. I average probably 30 minutes a week on the weekly challenges, and I'll definitely be back to it in a big way when the Mayhem content update is freed from Apple Prison.

Got started on this week's challenges later than usual, and I managed to snag the top spot for one of them! (At least the leaderboard says I did...it looks like there's a few shorter times on the chart, maybe the chart includes the PC version while the leaderboards don't?)

There's a good chance someone will beat my time before tomorrow, but this is the first time I've managed to get that top spot, whether or not it lasts, so it feels good! Also feels good that I didn't look at anyone else's replays before getting the top spot. I watched the #2 replay afterward, and was surprised to see how different his route was. I'm not smart enough to compare routes, so mine was much more straightforward lol.

@nate38

Congrats! I tried this week's challenge just a little bit, every jump being a high jump is crazy. Really interesting how fresh minor tweaks like that make the game feel!
04/22/20, 06:21
Aw man someone has already crushed the leaderboards with a time seven seconds better than mine, haha. It was fun while it lasted! They took the same route I did but found a nice shortcut at the end that shaved off lots of time.

I keep misreading the topic title and thinking this is a discussion about me...

Is this similar to the Kororinpa games on Wii? I liked those, though sometimes the level design got too ridiculous.
04/22/20, 21:41
@Mop it up Not especially, this game feels a lot more like a 3D platformer that happens to star a marble, rather than a Kororinpa-style tilting game.

Hey remember this game from forever ago? It's getting an upgrade in two weeks!

It's technically a whole new game but anyone who owns Marble It Up on Steam will have Ultra added to their collection automatically.
For those of us who own the game on Switch, Ultra will be available free of charge, details forthcoming.

Ultra has a new singleplayer campaign that appears to be about 50/50 old and new levels, and four online modes that all look pretty fun, so I'll definitely be dipping back into this game later this month.

I've had this game on my eShop wish list since this topic was posted, but still haven't pulled the trigger...

Amazing! I really enjoyed this game.

This seems like the spiritual successor of Super Monkey Ball. I am intrigued
08/12/23, 02:32
@Stan McStanly

It's similar! It's based on a series called Marble Blast, which has a different feel from Monkey Ball.

08/13/23, 05:03
@Stan McStanly I have it on Switch so you can play it on Dave's Switch.

It's pretty good but I didn't get too far into it.

@Zero i finally started working, (much later then I would have preferred, but nevertheless) so i might buy my own soon.
08/16/23, 02:45
Well. If you get one, then I'll hook you up with my info so you can play all of my games.

I mean, I totally won't do that because it's not allowed or something.

Wink wink.
