REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A new type of adventure game is headed to the Nintendo Switch system on Oct. 18 – one that incorporates fun new accessories that turn real-world movement into in-game actions in a quest to save the world. Nintendo just revealed a new video that takes a closer look at this new experience for Nintendo Switch.

In the Ring Fit Adventure game, players explore an expansive world, battling enemies along the way using real-life exercises to perform in-game attacks. The new Ring-Con and Leg Strap accessories that are included with the game respond to the player’s real-world movements, allowing the game to turn them into in-game actions, like jogging in place to move your character through the world using the attached Leg Strap, or squeezing the Ring-Con and turning that strength exercise into powerful attacks. By playing the game daily, players can regularly work out various parts of their bodies. With additional mini-games and workout routines, Ring Fit Adventure is a fun experience for players of various skill levels and lifestyles.

More here, including Nintendo's dorkiest presentation in a while.

Um, so...I love this? Weird peripherals + Nintendo quirkiness + fitness + RPG mechanics = my dream sequel to Wii Fit I never knew I wanted! Day one, baby! Pokemon can lick a duck.

Looks way more fun than I imagined. Much more fun than Wii Fit.

I think I'm in. The old lady who lives under me isn't going to be happy though. That silent mode is for the birds.

This looks legit fun and I kind of want it. It's also just kind of like... rubber right? It can't be THAT expensive can it?!

Nah, we can use this one. We both posted the news at pretty much the same time, but yours has more info in it. Hah.

@Zero

Yeah, I'm hoping they release it at a standard $60, but a bit more would be alright. Certainly not anything outlandish like $100 or I'll probably have to pass unless the software is really feature packed.

I'm thinking they'll want to keep it affordable... something that adds more diverse appeal to the Switch platform itself.

That guy in the video drove me bonkers listening to, though. He was so fake. Whole video really felt super insincere honestly. I mean, it's a commercial, but still.
Same! He has that slightly manufactured enthusiasm, in a way you'd expect to see in like a parody of an infomercial. The whole thing kinda had that insincere whiff to it.

But it looks kinda interesting. And a lot less setup than Wii Fit / Plus.

@Hinph

It's $80! And the ring is electronic apparently, you can adjust its sensitivity and stuff!

@nate38

Yeah, what was up with the actors? Haha. I kept wondering while watching this how the whole process of making one of these videos must go. Nintendo contracts the project to an advertising company, who has a film division, and then their costume person picks out the athletic outfits...

...something went wrong with this one. It's like one of those weird videos that Adult Swim will show at 3:30am. 😅

If it sells well, I wonder if they'll put some Ring-Con support into other games. Could be neat to have some additional calorie burning modes in other popular Nintendo software. Mario Kart should be easy since it's already a wheel.

Awesomely WTF. But expensive! But still cool. Will I get it?

Eventually...

As always, I hope that the minigames are fun.

@Hinph
Ooo, I didn't even think about functionality in other games! Mario Kart could work, for sure. Squeeze to use items, shake for tricks, and stomp to hop?

Breath of the Wild and Odyssey with real running controls for exercise?

... ARMS?

@Anand

Somebody predicted WarioWare when they saw the ring (before you die, you see the ring), and I still really want that too! Where the hell is WarioWare, Nintendo?

@Hinph
Man, the Switch is just begging for Wario Ware. That IR sensor alone! Instead, we got 1-2 Switch...

The Wii U also had tons of Wario Ware potential. Nintendo still has minigames-a-plenty, but where are the microgames?!

Maybe Tomodachi Life killed Wario Ware?

Like my granddad always said, "Don't ask questions you don't want to know the answer to."

He actually never said that, and I just did a quick image search because I remembered that old episode of Psyduck getting lick-attacked, but I like the above answer better because it is creepy.
