I am more excited for this than I have any right to be, given I won't play it, ha ha. But my wife, she LOVES this series, and will dance upon hearing this news. Thanks for the heads up! :D Here's hoping 2019 doesn't mean December, lol.

I’m surprised. Square-Enix was talking like the game was nowhere close to being finished for Switch. I’m glad it’s coming though.

*Still bitter about not getting a localized version of the already complete 3DS version but happy to hear the Switch version is coming soon.*

For some reason, I thought this announcement of an announcement was already announced. Hopefully, there will be confirmation of a US release soon, though I've a feeling it'll be a 2020 game at this rate. @GameDadGrant Same, seems different enough to be worthwhile alongside this one. I had the idea that the Switch version would play like the PS4 version when docked, and then switch to the 3DS version when portable. The two games are probably too different for that to work though, but it'd be clever!

I think I'll actually give this game a try. I'm sad we won't get the two screen experience with the two different art styles as in the 3DS version, though.

Set expectations on "absolutely nothing," because the surprise essentially turned out to be just that. Basically, it was some fortune-telling feature on the Japanese website for the game. On the plus side, the Smash Bros. rumors place Erdrick as being likelier than ever, so stand by...

Is that his canonical name, or will they call him Loto?

As long as it isn't I didn't look at the spoilers so I don't even know who it might be.

DQXI S's demo is out now! Apparently it's just like the main game--you start at the beginning and everything. And it's quite huge, estimated at between 5 and 10 hours. You can also carry over your save file into the main game. Go try it out!

I'm still playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2! I feel like these "start the game" demos are smart for RPGs because I will almost certainly try it eventually and then when I'm 5 hours in or whatever I'll be too hooked to quit. I mean, I was PROBABLY going to get this game eventually anyway but there are so many RPGs I want to play that it's tough to choose!

I have it downloaded but I'm babysitting my nephew. So, I have to wait till he falls asleep to play it.

I've played for about two hours, but am taking my time with it. Overall, it's great so far! Pretty much what I expected--lots of polish, lovely orchestral music, really outstanding character models (the skin texture is somehow mesmerizing and I love how expressive the characters are in cutscenes. Plus the lip-synching is surprisingly accurate), excellent voice acting and writing and classic turn-based battles. On that last point, they're a little simple at the moment since I just have a single character with one spell, but I still ended up getting killed due to carelessness at one point. In my defense, I'm playing with one of the Draconian Quests on: stronger enemies. I'm eager to explore more of the world and am impressed with how much polish has gone into everything. I have one moderate complaint right now, which is that the overworld music is way too short. It's bombastic and well-written, but it clocks in at just over a minute before it loops so it becomes repetitive very quickly. Kinda wish there was more to the song, like DQVIII's field theme (which I'll be able to switch to in the full game!). Go try it out!
