Banjo didn't immediately click as interesting to me the way Pirahna Plant, Joker and Hero did, but I'll give it more time. I could be missing a lot but it seems the most unique thing about him is that super powerful dash move that you can only do 5 times per stock? (Is there any way to refill that or is it a set limit?!)
I have no real opinion on Terry Bogard at all. Seems like a kind of boring choice to throw in another fighter, but whatever. He could end up alright.
Not sure why it finally clicked in my head that Smash is getting character rep from basically every major Japanese developer. Sega, Capcom, Konami, Namco, Square, Enix, Atlus, and now SNK. Who is next? Any major Japanese developers they haven't done yet?
I'd like to see Level 5. PROFESSOR LAYTON would be the obvious choice there. |

@ZeroI kind of like that he's "less interesting!" I mean, yeah, it makes him less exciting to try out, but if fits; he's a Nintendo 64 character, so he should be just as simple as the original cast. Sans though!! How crazy is that? That whole Smash segment was wonderful. It's hilarious to me how genuine they let Sakurai be with his humor, making jokes about how you should play Banjo-Kazooie on Xbox One and how he's "very pleased" with the sales of Smash Ultimate. I mean, he practically came out and said, "I swear to God, this is my last Smash game, and we all know Nintendo won't be able to get all these licenses again or make a better one without me, so I guess we have to make this one as good as possible." |

@ZeroI may be the only one on this website that is genuinely excited for Terry. I really like the Fatal Fury/The King of Fighters games...been playing those on Nintendo systems since the SNES/Game Boy era. Just as iconic and important as Ryu and Ken, IMO. Though I would not have been sad at all if the SNK rep was the Metal Slug (the tank, not any of the soldiers...unless they all came in, guns blazing as part of a Final Smash, Mega Man-style). But Terry Bogard in ULTIMATE is awesome. "Hey! C'mon, c'mon! Get sir-e-ous!" Also, one of the major Japanese third parties I'm surprised we haven't seen a rep from yet is Tecmo. I mean, I guess there is that Assist Trophy of the girl from Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water, but we don't have a playable Tecmo rep yet. The obvious choice would be Ryu Hayabusa from Ninja Gaiden, but I wonder if they would be so bold as to put in Kasumi from Dead or Alive? Or maybe one of the warriors from Dynasty/Samurai Warriors? |
