Super Mario Maker 2 is finally here! I remember back when it was a mere hopeful game. Then it evolved into a rumor. Finally into fruition! It hasn't even really been that long since we've known of it. The day has come where the Negative World community gets the ball rolling on excellent levels. Many of our users have been known to make some incredible levels. Many even found notoriety in the course database online. I hope we'll see the same this time around. Perhaps with a bigger install base, the Switch will see even MORE levels from the humans of Earth, and hopefully more levels from Negative World.
With the original game, I generated a simple but easy to use form which allowed us to specifically track all of our levels in one place. The game's system of level finding is actually even better than it was before, but I know many people who found this list of Negative World specific levels useful. So I really hope you all will consider using it again.

Well, IMO NOA's localization was pretty tepid until around the N64 era and stuff like Paper Mario and the 3D Zeldas, with a few bright spots like Link's Awakening and EarthBound (where both games' bizarre writing really added to the atmosphere). I think their top-level stuff was the era between Thousand-Year Door (2004) and, I dunno, Kid Icarus Uprising (2013). Smash 4's trophy descriptions are when things started to feel a bit "off" to me.
As someone who's very sensitive to this sort of thing, I actually don't think it's too bad. I hear you on the trophy description thing, that had a certain "editorialized" tonal shift that felt a little out of place for that kind of game. But for characters in a Mario game, or something like, I dunno, Badge Arcade, a little bit of Paper Mario style self-awareness doesn't feel too out of place to me.
The doge thing in Reinforce Heroes was too much though. People say it's no worse than the MC Hammer reference in ALttP, but that felt like a product of Nintendo not knowing that localization is important vs. trying too hard to be relevant.
I'll give it a try the next time I play. I like short and sweet levels, although I've noticed a lot of people use that tag on levels that are not so short!
I remember that the game assigned that tag to one of my levels automatically for some reason, despite the fact that I had already given it the requisite two other tags. I don't think any of my levels are short, so I'm not sure why it did that.
@TriforceBun I don't think the game ever assigns tags automatically, but if you haven't locked your tags then anyone and everyone can change them. So that's probably what happened. Like everything else, some people will change them to unrelated tags as trolling.
@achhibbar Good for a start, it was a nice use of the beepers and spike switches.
@r_hjort Welcome back mate! I hope this isn't the last we see of you. The only thing your Metroid level is missing is an escape sequence up a lengthy exploding shaft, hee hee.
@ludist210 Nice! I had 64 coins, but fortunately had enough time to fly back for the last one, hee hee.
@carlosrox It certainly shows that you put a lot of work into this one, nice job! I think I only found 3 1ups though...
Y'know, it's funny, after all the complaints from everyone else about lack of slopes in the first game, and all the celebration of them finally being included... and I've barely even used them in any of my levels!
Anyhoos, here's a minigame of sorts I thought up: Skeet Shooting - WFM-NVD-60G
@ploot One of the better re-creations of Donkey Kong I have seen for sure!
I played your The Boom Room level. Fun! A nice challenge indeed. Was a bit annoyed with how that first fire cheep would load when taking the cat path, but still, managed a great time.
Your Donkey Kong homage was awesome man! One of my favorite stages I've played in either Mario Maker.
I also played your level called, "A Twist on SMB1 1-1". Funny concept! I tried to get the best time but man that dude has the precision lock. I could only get within 0.011 seconds of him.
Reflection Reflexion 459-NPV-KTG The reflections shall reveal the truth...
@DrFinkelstein Thanks for trying them! Yeah, unfortunately when it comes to short levels like that, it's easier for a player to optimize a record and have it become unbeatable.
@DrFinkelstein Hey, is it possible for me to remove one of my levels from the spreadsheet you made, or do you have to do it? I updated a level so now the code in there is no longer valid.
