Ok, let's talk Vouchers! Like the Digital Deluxe thing on Wii U, this program is a genuine incentive to buy digital. Check it!

$100 (-$5 eShop Credit)/2 games = $47.5. Ehhh, it's okay. 20.83333% off.

So it beats my still active Gamers Club Unlocked discount, but there's no resale value. But wait! If you buy eShop cards from Raise.com, you can get them at 10% off. AND they often have codes for additional savings (like 7% extra off today)!

Now, it's more like: $100×90%×93% = $83.7 (-$5 eShop Credit)/2 games = $39.35 per game! 34.41666% off baby! With no sales tax, if you just happen to live in Multinomah, Oregon, making it more like 40% off of brand new, super-convenient-on-a-portable-system digital Nintendo games! Now we're talkin'!

Sure, they expire in a year, but I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem for irresponsible consumers like us.

I have reserved my vouchers for Super Mario Maker 2 and Animal Crossing. Both deserve to reside in my Switch. And they will find a spacious, comfortable home on my new $57 400GB Micro SD card, mwa-ha-ha-ha!

@J.K. Riki
You don't understand, man. You don't know what it's like for us, man!

Just look at that crazy rant up there!

@canonj A price increase after so many years? Wow, indie games truly are the opposite of AAA!

What is Raise? Is this legit?!

I keep seeing this ad on Facebook for 15% off eShop (and pretty much every other) cards and it feels scammy but the company SEEMS legit. A part of me wants to just try it and if I get screwed well, it was worth the risk. Because the reward is me saving a shit ton of money.

Next time I see it pop up again I will try to get the details saved somewhere.

@Zero
Raise seems legit to me. My identity hasn't been stolen yet! It's basically a clearing house for gift cards. I unloaded an iTunes card that I've had lying around for literally 15 years.

It's been on my desk for 15 years.

Costco sells $50 cards for around $45, too, but you need a membership.

If a site excepts PayPal then that can help protect you if something goes wrong. Some credit cards also protect against scams.

@Anand

Dang it, Anand! What’s with this raise.com nonsense? Thanks a bunch. Now I’ve done this voucher nonsense too. I haven’t decided on the second game yet. I don’t like digital games! I always expect to get physical versions of these digital games eventually.

Also, I only have 146 gb left on my 400 gb. Seems like not enough. I don’t know how long it’ll last. Only Hellblade is a gb hog at 18, most of the others are considerably more moderate.

@Brandon
Haha, I'm the opposite. I get the physical version, intending to go digital later.

I just upgraded from 200gb to 400gb last week, and I now only have 112gb free. :(

But I did download everything that was possible to download. Those free to play games are huge!

As someone who grew up with, like, a Vic 20, it freaking blows my mind that you can fit a terabyte of data on those tiny chips. How the hell?!

That FB ad popped up again. Here is the link to their site. When you click on it there is no $70 card at 14.3% off but there are some $35 cards for 13% off at the moment. I think the deals change a lot since it appears they are just the middle man for people selling gift cards, and the sellers set the price.

There is also a promo code (FACEBOOK) that supposedly stacks but I'm not sure what all it stacks with.

What do you think? Legit or scam? The Facebook comments seem positive but who knows. SHOULD I TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM?!

@Zero

Seems remarkably similar to raise.com, which seemed okay. Hmmm, maybe I’ll try this one too. Maybe.
05/19/19, 18:28
Yeah, it does look similar. There's another one called MassGenie, which seems more suspicious.
05/19/19, 19:15
Well, I tried the xenia site as well. Got $120 for $95. Used a $10 off first time purchase (minimum $100 order, promo code SUNSHINE). which I failed to take advantage of on raise.com, like a dummy. Once I get and redeem the codes, I'll feel better. I doubt I'll use these sites often, but occasionally, as the deals make sense.
05/19/19, 20:00
Welp, I bit the bullet too. $105 worth for $83ish using that SUNSHINE code.

Hopefully this works!

It worked!

I got a little scared because my email had some message about redeeming Wii shop codes and I was like wait, did I somehow buy the wrong thing? But nah, it worked.

I feel like this is a game changer. There are gift cards for all kinds of stuff on this site! Why pay full price for anything ever again?! Especially with the Gamer's Club Unlocked thing ending soon I might switch over to digital for AAA games too! Maybe?!

Mind you, there are still some good retail deals ON OCCASION, but it seems like nowadays good retail deals are rare.

Yup, worked just fine. It still feels shady in a weird way, but whatevs. More money to waste on the eShop.

Guacamelee is free on Steam until tomorrow: Free on Steam

Weekend Panda games are free on Mobile even after tomorrow: Free on Apple and Android

Yeah, I'm not going to pass up the opportunity to link to them. Job hunting sucks.

Big sale on the eShop! Tons of first-party Nintendo games are 33% off, and lots of other deals on big titles.

Crypt of the Necrodancer is a whopping 80% off (just four bucks!) ahead of ZeldaDancer's release in two days. I re-bought it even though in all likelihood I will never play it on Switch.

I also bought Sonic Mania (25% off) and am considering Mega Man 11 (20% off), two other games I have already played but don't own on Switch...
06/12/19, 01:23
Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna always goes on sale but Xenoblade 2 regular never does! WHY?!
06/12/19, 03:42
@Zero I was surprised to see the expansion is normally $40. Seems pretty pricey for DLC. Is it that beefy?
06/12/19, 03:43
@nate38
It's a standalone version. The Expansion Pass includes it for $30, I think.
06/12/19, 04:04
This isn't a deal for any of YOU (at least, probably not right now) but I got my Best Buy Gamer's Club 25% off a single game because my subscription is ending thing and I had no idea it STACKED on top of the 20% I already get from the subscription?!

I got Xenoblade 2 for like 35 bucks!

A nice end to a great program. Not sure where I will go for deals now. Maybe just rely on those 15% off eShop / PSN / etc. cards?!

It kind of feels like the days of awesome video game deals on consoles are over though. Cheapassgamer rarely has anything all that spectacular nowadays.
