Well, I got roped into entering a mostly students but they wanted me to be in it Smash Bros competition after school today. Apparently the kid I got paired up against is really good and everyone is looking forward to him smacking me down.
I have no idea what that is but he definitely killed me. It was a 3 stock best of 3.
My Young Link to his Cloud, I only killed him once and he killed me 3 times.
Did a bit better for awhile with my Robin to his regular Link, we were neck and neck at high percents on our second stock, but I fell apart near the end.
Apparently there is a loser's bracket so I'm not totally out yet but uh yeah... that went about as expected.
Of course the tournament was boring courses and no items, bah.
First match was pretty close, in fact I was winning with Young Link to Lucina had about 70% to his 90%, but he got a good sideways hit on me and I couldn't get back to the course.
I probably should have stuck with Young Link but honestly I kind of didn't care at that point so I switched to Robin and got killed by his Lucina. Robin is not that good when someone is aggressively up close.
No wonder I can't get any of my characters up to elite, I SUCK.
To be fair most of the kids who signed up for this tourney are the school's serious Smash players. When I just play against random students I usually do pretty well.
I now have one of every single Spirit, and all of them are Lv99. I don't know why I felt I needed to do this, but it's done.
It didn't take much effort actually, you just put four in the gym for a day or so and replace them the next day. Plus I maxed out a lot of them with Snacks.
Huh, so the reason that the songs are mostly only around two minutes long is simply because of space limitations. That makes sense. Having hundreds and hundreds of songs would take up a lot of memory.
So there's a new TV spot for Smash that seems to have accidentally(?) leaked an upcoming feature, presumably coming in the 3.0 patch that should arrive sometime this month along with Joker. It's not showcased in detail in the ad, but its existence is confirmed when the game's menu is shown briefly at the beginning.
It's nothing mind-blowing, but I guess I'll spoiler-tag it anyway: Stage Builder is going to return!
I don't buy that this is a accident, it seems more like a Mario Odyssey style "look at this! but not for too long!!" tease. The shot is framed perfectly to show this off in a way that makes people feel smart for noticing it but is totally obvious once you see it.
We have to be getting a Nintendo Direct on Thursday.
There would be very little warning then if a Nintendo Direct was happening. No news today right? The GameXplain folks thought this was an accident but IMO I think it's a subtle hint also.
Since I figure that Joker is indeed coming in mere days, I finally picked up the DLC bundle last night. Now I just need this stuff to download in.
Honestly, as today went on I kinda realized that pretty much every Direct date lately has been getting leaked ahead of time, so the fact that there wasn't anything was a bad sign.
Warmed my heart to see the stage turn yellow when the Persona 4 music kicked in. That yellow's my fave. I'm not sure this stage will be easy to look at while you're fighting on it, but it sure is stylish.
Stage builder looks interesting. Definitely the best one yet.
Video editing... I mean, video editing is cool but why not just have a video editor in the Switch hardware itself? And you can only share Smash videos in Smash World? I can't just send one to Twitter or something? Weird.
