Wolfenstein II is here on Nintendo Switch!

Bethesda has already been supporting the Nintendo Switch pretty heavily and hopefully this game will see strong sales to help push this notion further.

Bethesda continues to support the Nintendo Switch with another classic game from their collection. Wolfenstein II continues the tale of William "B.J." Blazkowicz in a world where the Nazi's won during World War II and the United States is under Nazi Germany control.

Released on June 29th, 2018

Who's playing this? This is my first FPS on the console, as I did not play DOOM. I wish this had motion control support so so much... but hopefully I'll make due with the traditional controls.

And that is a wrap! I just watched the credits roll. Quite a stellar experience. I'm not someone who plays FPS games often so the spectacle of this game had me pretty enthralled. The sense of power was fun though I might pick a new contraption on a future play through. The one that prevents me from being knocked on my ass would have been helpful in that last main mission. Still, I had a lot of fun with it.

I have only played a little of the side missions, so I may just keep at that for a bit. We'll see how my interest wanes over time.

I did take a look at that pinball machine and.. yeesh. Yeah, that's a sad reference.

It didn't take me long to get another contraption, so playing the game again for that doesn't seem very interesting to me. I'd rather collect them and play around with them on the extra missions! I'm kind of curious about the other timeline, though.

Just chiming in here quickly to say glad everyone seems to be enjoying this game! I freaking love The New Order, The Old Blood, and The New Colossus, Wolfenstein rules!

I haven’t completed the DLC though, not sure if I ever will. The other 2 ganes I 100%ed but it his time around the post game seems a little less thrilling for some reason. Maybe because your not playing as BJ?

@deathly_hallows
That's something us Switch owners don't have to worry about, 'cause we haven't got the DLC episodes. Here's hoping the game did well enough for Bethesda to consider putting Panic Button on the case, but it didn't sound like it was in the cards before.

There wasn’t much buzz around any of those DLC missions, I wonder if they just cut their losses?

What I think would be cool is a New Order/Old Blood combo pack for Switch!

I’m only about halfway through this game on PC. I beat the first one. In my opinion they are two of the absolute best story driven, single player FPS games in a very long time. They absolutely nailed the mechanics and larger than life set pieces in conjunction with great level design, campy and absurd but almost believable dialogue and story (gave me a MGS vibe) and overall presentation. Neither game ever drags and has this awesome kinetic feel to it.

Anyhow I’m glad it’s on Switch. Great game, great developer. I’ll buy their next game without question. Oh and if any of you haven’t played the first you really should. It’s amazing and cheap on pretty much all platforms. You could probably get it for under $10 on a Steam sale.

Is it necessary to have played the first one to understand the story of this one? Or can it be picked up on without that?

@Mop it up
I hadn't played the previous game and had no problem getting into the story. There's a short recap at the beginning of the game too.

I had thought that the first game was only for PS4 and Xbone, but I looked it up and saw that it was also on PS3 and X360. Perhaps I'll track down the first game for Xbox 360 to start with, it's probably cheap by now.

A new patch is available. Also patch notes.

Bethesda said:

- General performance improvements
- Fixed an issue affecting unresponsive controls when in the game menu
- Fixed an issue affecting a Star Card achievement bug
- Added snap-to-center option for motion controls

Completionists rejoice! The previously uncollectable Star Card in New Orleans is now actually there!

Also, I'm not sure if my experience is coloured by the fact that I've lately mainly played Cities Skylines which suffers from a lot of framerate drops, but this seems to be running without a hitch now. It ran well before, but now even better. I think. Playing the levels that I know had frequent drops before, and so far haven't encountered any. Unfortunately I can't remember which one of the levels has the most laggy part (one where basically everything causes a drop), so I haven't been able to try that out yet, but otherwise this is running pretty much perfectly now (knock on wood), it seems.

The trade-off might be a tad more hi-res texture pop-in when getting up close and personal to objects, but so far I've only really noticed that while in the submarine hub, and not so much in the actual levels.

EDIT: Then again, this might just be me not remembering how well the game actually ran and comparing it to a less smooth game. Too early to say.

Double posting 'cause I remembered where that laggy area was.

Went there, attracted the attention of all the nazis and their panzerhund, started a major shootout, and didn't notice one measly framerate drop. And this was an area where I had drops practically constantly, even if nothing major was going on.

Now's the time to get this game, for anyone who's been holding off for a performance patch.
