Good lord, I had forgotten how much I love these games. Got it during the recent sale, but I feel dumb for not getting it when it first came out.
Lots of people seemed to talk about this game with disappointment, saying it wasn't as good as the previous 2. Hard disagree: it's as addictive and fun as ever.
Yeah, they do. Sometimes they'll just go round and round until the way is clear, sometimes they'll take the warps on either side when they're not supposed to.
Look at this video, you can see one taking a shortcut in the upper right corner at 10:48.
edit - Actually, tons of more instances at 15:46. Just turn off the sound, these guys are annoying.
@Guillaume Ah, now that I see it in action I feel as if this probably has happened to me but I've just never noticed it. Well, that's another thing for me to worry about when playing then!
