E3 2018 Predict-a-ton! RESULTS!!

Nintendo once again showcasing a single game as their primary focus. This time it was the previously teased Super Smash Bros. Ultimate! Nobody could have guessed that Nintendo would bring back EVERY fighter in the expansive series. We also didn't expect Fox McCloud to show up in a 3rd party game nor a bunch of key titles to end up being no-shows. It was an E3 many didn't quite expect, for good or bad. This was E3 2018.

Overall there was quite a bit more negative scoring this year. The fact that nothing came from Section C really hurt the scores. There were quite a few votes for those and not a one came true. The most popular picks were for A01 - Super Smash Bros. for Switch is a BRAND NEW Smash game and A09 - At least 2 new Switch retail games from Nintendo. None of that is really a surprise as both were true. The most voted for categories that did NOT come true were A03 - Yoshi (for Switch) Trailer, A02 - Full Reveal of Nintendo Switch's Online Service, and C06 - Metroid Prime 4 Gameplay Revealed. Interesting for Nintendo to skip all three of those. We've since learned Yoshi was delayed but what about the other two things. The Nintendo Online service goes live in three months! I smell another Direct. Overall we had about 19% of users in the green this year. Nonetheless, everyone, thank you for participating! It's always a blast!

Have a great summer! Until next E3… see ya!

Happy to r_hjort! If anyone cares about the Non-Negative World results, check out my blog here. You might see a familiar face or two on there from Negative World but since they didn't post on here, they were counted in the Other group.

Other quick notes, on the upcoming podcast KrisWright might have been name-dropped as a low-scoring individual. I had a calculation error on his file (due to the Fire Emblem technicality) which gave him a much better score than I spoke of.

Also, Abdooooo's score is not reflective of his post in this thread. He posted on the Google Form first, then here, and when asked about it, he wanted to go with his original picks. That's why, in case anyone is wondering.

@canonj

You're welcome! Thanks for thanking! And 4th, place, definitely not bad when you broke even! You're one-of-a-kind this year at Negative World and in a prestige club of non-Negative-Negative-Worlders! Congrats!

And to think I thought I was being conservative this year...

WOOOOOOOOOOO! Two in a row, suckaaaaaaas!!

FINALLY a year where I wasn't last. This new strategy of "basically just copy and paste the first two categories" is paying off!

Proud of myself for nabbing an even -50! Should've picked Mario Party instead of Wario...

That Mario Party prediction sure saved me.

Wow! I always suck at these, but... wow.

Ah, well. The second-most memorable position is last place. (Source: My ass.)

I'm just glad I beat Shadowlink. I also think this is the best I have done in these yet.

Yay! I suck but not as bad as a lot of you suckas!

Third place! Pretty sure that's my highest yet. Maybe even first one out of the red. I probably should have taken more risks and predicted Mario Party, I was actually thinking we were due for one but didn't commit. Oh well, hindsight and all that.

Thanks for putting this together DrFinkelstein, these are always fun!

Incidentally I went from being really bad at this to decently good and the secret is... make your list, then remove like half of it, because E3 never delivers what you want or expect.

Damn. Like. Damn - I was fooled this year - maybe overly hopeful as my bids were not that risky but - yeah Nintendo really doing only one game hurt.

congrats Ploot!!

Wow, I did horribly.

@Zero That's about what I had done, myself. I put down only six guesses, five of which were correct. Seeing so many people going for broke made me wonder if I could win by just using the highly likely ones, hee hee.
