Nintendo knows when it's got something good on its hands. Splatoon 2, alluded to in Nintendo's 2015 Fall Preview of the Switch, has finally been blown out in glorious fashion at the January 12th/13th event.
Key Features: New Weapons (like the Duelies) New stages and classic stages (some with zip lines from the single-player mode!) Online Multiplayer Expanded Local Multiplayer Presumed Single Player Mode New Mode: Salmon Run (aka Horde Mode) - 4 player co-op
Key Questions: What are you most excited about from the trailer? What are you most hopeful for? Are you buying at launch? When do you think launch will be?
Releases: July 21st, 2017
Ploot and DrFinkelstein Discuss The July 6th, 2017 Nintendo Direct about Splatoon 2
The next Salmon Run set is the mythical all four random weapons set, which is always a hilariously amazing time! It begins Saturday at 8pm ET (5pm PT) and runs all through Sunday. Anyone else here wanna try to meet up and play?
@Mop it up I might! I sadly seldom play Splatoon these days, but I often want to. Can't make any promises though, because Scandinavia. When are you planning to play?
@Mop it up Hahaha, yeah! "I sadly seldom play Splatoon these days"! I'll get back to you about the start of Salmon Run. Is it even active at the same time for us, what with the regions and stuff? That has screwed over our plans in the past.
@r_hjort I'm fairly certain the times are active worldwide, but I haven't specifically tested it. It seems pretty messy otherwise, and the regular mode stage rotations are worldwide.
It looks like my fourth teamie won't be able to make the first Splatfest on May 5th. I know this is a long shot, but would anyone here like to join our team? I don't think we've chosen a side yet.
Anyone download the expansion yet? I'm currently trying to, but since my ISP is a sadistic entity that can smell my fear I will have to wait for another four hours or so. I'm sure the internets will be back to their usual speed tomorrow, because this only happens when I really, really doesn't want it to.
Curious about the DLC, anyway! I haven't read up on it at all, so I'm going in blind! Hype!
The DLC is exactly what I expected it to be when it was first announced: bite-sized levels with a variety of different goals that are more challenging than the basic single player.
Haha! I love this! It would have been nice if the levels were a bit lengthier, but so far (I've only played three) they've been sufficiently varied, challenging and fun. Also, it's nice to be reminded of just how brilliant Nintendo is when it comes to bringing personality to their designs and presentation. After having spent most of yesterday evening playing Fortnite this is such a paradise of well executed silliness and loveable characters.
This will be a wonderful way to spend the weekend.
Played for about four hours and have had fun. I'm not really fond of the system where you have to pay all those credits when you fail, but somebody on Reddit said they just give you more if you run out? Well then whatever.
Can probably get more out of $20 elsewhere on the eShop (Hollow Knight is only $15), but I guess it's worth it in entertainment hours provided.
