@Mop it up

I'd like to, I miss Splatoon, but we're on the tail end of our first game deadline and so I shouldn't even be here talking right now, ha ha. Enjoy the Splatfest! :D

I'm #TeamEgg too. We have someone coming into town this weekend so while I'm sure I'll play, I just don't know what times. When would you generally be available to play? For me it's likely in the early morning which may not jive.
03/07/18, 00:57
@DrFinkelstein Yeah, the morning wouldn't be good for me. It'll likely be in the evening.
03/08/18, 00:24
@Mop it up

If I can play at that time I'll pop in Discord. Maybe I'll see you there!

The new DLC story mode addition looks AMAZING. I can not wait for that. Single player is my favorite part of Splatoon (because I suck at multiplayer so much), and why I love Splatoon 2 so much more than the first in the series. This is right up my alley!

Also it has made me want to go play more Splatoon 2 now, before the DLC. And thanks to finishing up Xenoblade 2 and not re-starting Zelda yet, that's what I'm going to go do after we finish up the first Weekend Panda game release! Woo!

EDIT: Also those two character designs? Flippin' fantastic. So good.

Another Splatfest has come and gone! I fought hard for #TeamEgg but ultimately it was not my strongest Splatfest. Frankly it was my absolute worst. The first Splatfest I actually lost more than I won, thus hurting the overall chances of winning. Damn. Rough day. I detailed the event, shared some videos, and photos, over at my blog post about it. However below are some of the highlights for the stats I took. With 8 stages having been played this time, I had to work to expand my usual sheet and calculations.

Total Matches Played To Reach “Egg Queen”: 37 Matches
Most Points In A Single Match: 2,203 points
Matches As The Top Player On The Team: 12 Matches / 32.4% of Matches
Win/Loss Ratio: 17 wins to 20 losses
Weapon of Choice: N’Zap ’89
Best Session: Morning Session (60% Win Rate)
Total Splats: 254 Splats
Maximum Splats In A Single Match: 12 Splats
Closest Match Percentage: 2.20%
Most Played Stage: Shifty Station (10 times)
Most Played Stage Besides Shifty Station: Kelp Dome (8 times)
No-Death Matches: 1 Match (on Shifty Station)

How'd everyone else fare?
03/11/18, 06:24
I can't break it down nearly as well, but I made it to Chicken Queen with a 19-10 record
03/11/18, 18:44
@mrbiggsly

Nicely done. That's a bit more my usual record. TeamEgg just didn't pull it off. I am amazed we lost so significantly.
03/11/18, 22:54
I finally got Splatoon 2! I'm not very far because apparently I have to share with my family or something. But anyways, I picked Team Chicken for fun and won some snails out of it! I really want the new DLC despite not being far into the regular game.
03/12/18, 00:02
@Cubed777

Awesome to see a new player on the scene. Hope to play with you good sir!
03/12/18, 00:15
The absolute TROUNCING Team Chicken gave to Team Egg was NUTS. It was a tough ‘fest for sure!

It was also the best Shifty Station so far.

I think I'm going to hard reset Splatoon 2 and start over from scratch. I miss playing, but at this point I opened up the game and had even forgotten how to recenter the camera. Oops. So it would probably be wise if I started over entirely at this point. Not like I'd really LOSE anything...
03/12/18, 18:30
In my experience, it was all over the place. I'd go one match where I was easily the best player in the room (a shocker), and then the next match would have people so skilled I'd question if they were actually human. Despite that however, it felt like my win rate was about even for both solo and teams, so I saw it as a toss-up which could go either way.

The only thing I was surprised about was how Egg won popularity, as I figured Chicken would be more popular, getting the vote from immature guys. Plus, out of all my matches, only one was against my same team, which is unusual for being on the most popular team.

Anyone interested in Splatoon 2 action tonight? I have some folks lined up to play and it'd be great to see a lot more. Maybe we can reach 8 and do some private matches! Turf or Ranked. Salmon Run if there's not a ton of us is also on the table.

I'm playing by 8:30pm EDT with a twitter friend and possibly others.

Let me know if you're interested. Just under 5 hours away now.
03/29/18, 22:41
@DrFinkelstein Are these NegWorlders or someone else? I would be most interested in Salmon Run but I know that's kinda limited with just 4 players.
03/29/18, 23:07
I'll be there at that time to play Turf Wars, Ranked, or Salmon Run; whatever we decide on!
03/30/18, 00:20
@Mop it up

It was about half and half for a bit, then just NW, then we split.

Next Splatfest is TMNT?!

Is this the first time they did tournament style? But wait, how do I pick... based off the old TV show? Donatello! Based off the movies? Probably Leonardo.

There is really a dude who works for Nintendo named Doug Bowser? I wonder if that helped him in the interview process. Can't have hurt.

REDMOND, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Cowabunga! This May, Splatoon 2 for Nintendo Switch will host its first-ever tournament-style Splatfest to determine which brother from the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise is the ultimate fan-favorite. Featuring characters from Nickelodeon’s upcoming animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, fans will vote in three rounds to crown one Hero in a Half-Shell (turtle power!). Will it be Raph, Leo, Mikey or Donnie?

To participate, players won’t be asked to order a pizza, hop on a skateboard or save the city from an army of masked ninjas – they can just start voting for their pick beginning on April 27 simply by visiting the in-game Inkopolis Square. The first of three in-game Splatoon 2 Splatfest tournaments takes place May 4-5 and pits Raph against Leo, with the second running May 11-12 and featuring Mikey vs. Donnie. The final match between the winners of the first two showdowns takes place May 18-19. The full schedule is below:

Round 1: Raph vs. Leo
May 4 (Friday), 9 p.m. PT – May 5 (Saturday), 9 p.m. PT

Round 2: Mikey vs. Donnie
May 11 (Friday), 9 p.m. PT – May 12 (Saturday), 9 p.m. PT

Finals
May 18 (Friday) 9 p.m. PT – May 19 (Saturday), 9 p.m. PT

“We love working with unexpected partners to expand our brand and bring smiles to people’s faces in surprising ways,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Teaming up with Nickelodeon and Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles made perfect sense, as we share many of the same fans who enjoy family-friendly entertainment and classic characters.”

Splatfests are recurring online competitions in Splatoon 2 that ask players to pick a side – in this case, their favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Once players choose a team, they’ll receive an in-game T-shirt adorned with an image of their preferred Turtle for their Inkling character to wear as they compete in online multiplayer Turf Wars battles to see which side comes out on top. At the end of the Splatfest, each team’s popularity and win rate is tallied up, and one team is crowned the victor. Depending on what Splatfest rank players achieve, they’ll receive Super Sea Snails, which can be exchanged to further customize gear in the game. Because of the new tournament format, players need to pick up their Super Sea Snails by the Tuesday morning following each round. The early squid catches the Sea Snails, as the old saying goes. Splatfests are open to all Nintendo Switch owners who have the Splatoon 2 game and an Internet connection.

Nickelodeon’s new animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles follows the band of brothers as they discover new powers and encounter a mystical world they never knew existed beneath the streets of New York City. The 2D-animated series debuts later this year on Nickelodeon. For more information about the show, visit http://www.nick.com/rise-of-the-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles/.

I was thinking about this the other day. I wonder what path that guy took in life to have that name AND be a Nintendo executive?

This is the first tournament style Splatfest. It's an awesome idea. I am voting more or less based on how they look in the new show.

Based on how hideous Don looks, I'll probably go Raphael, then Michelangelo , and then who knows.

The question I have is... will there be the same special stage for all three or will they change it up each time?
